My husband has frequented Martin's for over 20 years. But after our experience today, we will be visiting Martin's much less regularly in the future.
This morning, I took my kids (3 and 19-months) to each pick out a donut. The line was out the door, and we ended up waiting 10-15 minutes before we ordered. My very hungry toddler, tired of being held and having to wait for his food, began pitching a fit (like all toddlers do occasionally) and refused to calm down despite my best efforts. Those waiting around us seemed sympathetic and understanding, but the cashier was just plain rude.
When I went to pay, I held my fussy toddler on the edge of the counter so I could free a hand to pull out my wallet. I'm 8 months pregnant, and it was obvious I was struggling to hold my screaming child while accessing my wallet. However, the moment I went to hold my child on the edge of the counter she said, "You can't put things on my counter." So...apparently my child qualifies as a "thing." And tone of her voice and look in her eyes made it obvious she was simply judging me for my child's bad behavior.
I have been in Martin's multiple times with other employees who have never complained when I held my babies on the edge of the counter so I could pay. And yes, while she was obviously very short-staffed overwhelmed, that is no excuse for rudeness.
The 2-star rating is because while we experienced crappy customer service, the donuts ARE pretty good. We drive 25 minutes round trip for donuts from Martin's. In the future, we will take our business somewhere...
Read moreDate of Visit: Monday, May 20th, 2019 Roguetrippers love Donuts, and we heard of the Butler County Donut Trail through Instagram. So naturally, the next time we were in Ohio, we had to attempt the Donut Trail. One of the 12 (11 now) stops on the trail is Martin's Donuts. The building is a converted garage that has been painted bright pink to make sure you know something delightful is inside.
When we entered, the lady working gave us a very friendly greeting. They had several nice looking donuts on display.
We picked up a couple just to try for the DOnut Trail. We had the Banana Pudding, and the Peanut Butter. both were very soft, fresh, light, fluffy, and full of flavour.
There is ample parking for your visit. The prices are very reasonable for fancy donuts. Friendly service.
This is a great place to grab some delicious donuts. Take the Butler County Donut trail the next time you are in the...
Read moreWhen I pulled up to the Bakery my first thought was I don't think so, but I stopped. Plenty of parking. Ugly pink building, but you cannot miss it, that works. This is an unbiased opinion, I'm not a resident of this area. These donuts are amazing and the staff was friendly. I've had the glazed yeast donut, it was so light, airy and delish. The Apple Fritter had just the correct Ratio of Glaze to Dough to Apple and seasoning. Also Large. The Blueberry Cake donut was good, just a little dense, but good flavor. I'll make the 45 minute drive occasionally from Cleves to enjoy delicious bakery goods. I am a die-hard Ragina Bakery person, but Martin's is also good and was worth the drive. Be sure you take the Butler County Donut trail the next time you are in the area between Dayton and Cincinnati. Martin's is worth the few miles off...
