East Troy Diner — Restaurant in Troy Township

I used to love coming to this Diner after going for a procedure at Troy Hospital because I wasn’t able to eat after midnight and was hungry. This past experience was far from what I’ve been used to and was extremely disappointed in the lunch specials we ordered which were close to $10 per plate. The tuna melt was inferior and made with very cheap and salty dark tuna ( the cook was displeased when o asked if he used pickles in the tuna) then we switched to a different table because our original spot was drafty. So as well as the poor tuna, my friend ordered the Goulash Special which I thought would be warming on a cold windy day. Well, I’m Hungarian and when he got the order it was not Goulash, it was merely macaroni , ground beef and tomatoes, and some white bread covered with garlic butter and toasted. I commented to my friend that his Goulash was definitely not Goulash and asked to taste it and it was terrible and tasteless. Of course the cook, whom I’d never seen before eavesdropped on our conversation and gave us a difficult time. I commented that I was talking to my friend and the conversation didn’t involve him. He continued to go on and on and I finally told him this Goulash was not worth $10 and that a. My mom was Hungarian and an incredible cook and also that 20 years of my life was spent in the restaurant business. I commented that “whatever happened to the customer always is right “ , he said whatever happened to the customer should never complain. Sorry but I never heard that expression! We couldn’t finish the terrible food that amounted to $20 plus. I told him “What? Can’t a woman complain? Up this way it’s quite misogynistic. I asked.”what if we sent the dish back from the beginning?” I guess we’re not going to be welcome back there again!...

This was one of my favorite places to eat but took my daughter here yesterday and for 3 blt's and 2 fries it was well over 20.00 not even enuff to fill you. Price is ridiculous. Only thing worth it there is the home made tomato soup. But I dint get that this time thought blt would be cheep and easy for us hahaha Will not be going back to eat there could have gotten more from Perkins...
