I’m compelled to write about my families experience this afternoon on Father’s Day. Upon sitting down in no time with menus it didn’t take long to realize getting service was slow. Upon being waited on by a young women we learned that she was the only wait person to handle all tables. So as things progressed we patiently waited as we watched this girl under incredible pressure trying to keep up doing the best she possibly could under the circumstances. It became unnerving to my family to see people at the tables on both sides of us being incredibly rude to this girl, it was difficult to not say something to them.
Upon eating and our dinner coming to an end, the owner or chef, I’m not sure, came out and personally apologized for the wait. The waitress brought us the bill which I paid online for the food, and chose to tip her in cash as I didn’t want her to wait to be paid by check by her employer assuming that’s how they do things. This girl tried to decline what I was giving her for a tip as she kept saying she didn’t deserve that much, it was only 30 dollars on a 110 dollar bill, that’s all. I made her aware that she deserved it and it really wasn’t much. I don’t know what the other tables tipped, but I suspect it wasn’t much based on how rude they were to her. My small tip and words brought tears to this girls eyes, she was so overwhelmed after being beat down like she was by others. What I don’t understand is, why do people have to be so hateful, a little compassion and patience based on circumstances can make a world of difference to someone. I can’t help as a father of two daughters on Father’s Day but to say how proud I personally was of this girl for not giving up no matter how much pressure was on her on top of customers that were not so understanding. And I have to recognize, I’m not sure if it’s the chef or owner but this gentleman didn’t have to personally apologize about the wait but he took it upon...
Read moreBest Indian Restaurant in New England, if I could give 10 stars I would! Been ordering takeout for a year now, almost every weekend we drive up to NH. Today we decided bring my parents who are visiting and were trying indian food for the first time to grab lunch at the restaurant. The restaurant area expanded and now the space they used for events is the main sitdown area, which is spacious and brightly and beautifully decorated (bathrooms were super clean and well-equipped too). But the highlight of this gem of a place is the service and the quality/value of the food. The beers (indian lagers, we tried Taj Majal and King Fisher) were ice cold, the mango lassi was awesome, the appetizers fresh and perfectly flavored (papadam, samosas, chutneys, some corn bites I hadn't tried before that were crispy on the outside and deliciously warm and soft on the inside, indian spring rolls that my picky mom loved, all highly recommended). We had some of the staples, butter chicken, lamb vindaloo, chicken tikka masala, some wings with a special sauce and garlic cilantro naan, perfectly baked. This place is special, and the owner is the most attentive person I've ever had the pleasure to meet, he was so sweet to us, especially our little kid, who ate all her meal and is quite a picky eater!! We brought home plenty of left overs. It is clear the owner and staff pride themselves in providing service and food that's above and beyond. Do yourself a favor, stop by and support this...
Read moreMy family went into this restaurant and saw the sign "Wait to Be Seated". There was only a young child of about seven or eight sitting alone in the entrance/lobby with no adults or staff around. After a couple of minutes the little girl said she'd seat us at a table. It was sweet that she'd seat us, but as a mom and a social worker, I felt it wasn't a good situation for her to be alone with no supervision. We wouldn't feel comfortable leaving our child alone like that. Once we were in the restaurant I could see that it wouldn't pass a safety inspection or a health inspection. When food was being refilled on the buffet the server just dumped new food on top of old food not changing out the pans. They weren't wearing gloves or a hair net, which explained a hair in the food. The food itself was hit or miss. The lentil Dahl was good, but the other dishes were either dry or bland. The pudding was frozen in the middle, another dessert curdled. There were also hot plug in wax candles low to the ground that I almost bumped into. I've never seen those in a restaurant and wondered why an Indian restaurant would need artificial floral fragrance. We've eaten at many Indian restaurants and have never left a negative review. We know what good Indian cuisine is. Unfortunately, Royal Spice missed the mark on...
