I'm from Los Angeles, previously New York. I'm vegan. I've had lots of really great Thai food in my life. Supposedly, there's good Thai in Keene, but my mother (whom I am visiting) lives in Fitzwilliam and Keene is a haul. Another option historically has been to go a little less far, but still far, to Peterborough for Asian/Chinese. Driving through Troy today I saw Thai Bamboo, came home looked it up and saw that it was relatively newly opened and people were saying good things. So I suggested that we go and try it out tonight -- 5 of us, including 2 vegan children. Bottom line: for take out or eat in: yes! More critically, the room is humble but holds a number of tables and during the hour or so we were there business was good and the room was consistently busy, but not overcrowded. There are a number of ceiling fans going and it felt a little chilly to be directly under one. We pulled the chain to make our's on the lowest setting and that was fine. It is, I believe, a family business, and so as a mom and pop restaurant there isn't a huge staff to handle everything. Our host was unnecessarily apologetic about this because he was consistent in checking in on the table and the food came quite promptly really despite the busy room. Kids tried tofu triangles and ate them up happily. I had coconut soup and it was tasty. Two other adults enjoyed steamed dumplings. Everyone enjoyed the main entrees also, which we tried yellow curry with shrimp, and yellow curry with tofu; red curry with chicken; vegetable fried rice w/ tofu; and spicy tofu w/ chili and basil. Food was all very tasty, hot and fresh. Was it absolutely the best Thai I've ever had -- well, I don't want to go there. Was it really good Thai food and what appears to be a little new gem in...
Read moreI was referred by my mom's coworkers to use Peggy Sue for my wedding cake. The wedding cake came out exactly how I envisioned it and tasted amazing (french buttercream frosting and marble cake) and they delivered to Stonewall Farm (my venue). However. She was very difficult to communicate with. I was planning my wedding from TN and getting married in NH, and her bakery is only opened a couple days a week. I wanted to correspond via email because that was going to be the easiest for me being so far away to share pictures, etc. She told me that's perfectly fine and unfortunately she never responded to any of my emails or phone messages. I had to have my mom go down to her bakery several times to talk with her in person to get any answers and for this, I was disappointed. I didn't know 100% that I was going to have a cake until the week of my wedding (talk about stressful!) I am thankful that the cake turned out so well and everyone said it tasted great, but I would recommend if you are planning a local wedding and are local, then go down to talk with her in person. If you are planning from afar, put someone in charge of the wedding cake and have them go...
Read moreWe love coming to Thai Bamboo with our family, including our children. The food here is incredibly authentic, with fresh ingredients and high-quality dishes. The attention to detail is evident, and the portions are quite generous.
Our kids especially love the Shrimp Mixed Veggies Rice—the shrimp is thick and delicious, complemented perfectly by chestnuts and other fresh vegetables. The Beef Noodle Soup is also a favorite; the beef broth is rich and flavorful.
The owner, Chot, is extremely friendly and always checks on us to make sure everything is perfect. This place is truly a hidden gem. We’ve tried many Thai restaurants before, but Thai Bamboo stands out as one of the best....
