I'll start this out by saying that I've been to quite a few breweries here in Oregon-- Rogue, Deschuttes, Two Kilts, Ancestry, and 10 Barrel, to name a few --ranging from international popularity to hyper-local. Every brewery that I've been to has generally been the same: come in, try some of our beers, maybe take a tour while you're here, and then get out of the way so that more people can cycle through.
I stopped in to Stickmen because it's fairly new and less than a mile from where I work, so what better place to check out after I leave for the day. Although it was nowhere near peak hours, I was expecting the usual brewery atmosphere, with a server/bartender that's somewhat annoyed that you keep asking about their beers, even though you're at their source. I was wrong on a bunch of different levels...
As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the bartender, and after we took a seat, she started telling us about the beers before we had even asked, which, to me, is awesome if it's your first time into a brewery. I ordered a flight so that I could try a few of the many different beers that they offer (outstanding selection, by the way). I wish I had gotten her name because she was awesome, but the bartender gave us a rundown of each of the beers that we got with our flights.
It was right around lunch time, so we ordered a pizza (they're only personal-sized, but perfect for two if you aren't that hungry). Their pizza selection, like their beer, is vast, and while they're somewhat spendy if you're just looking for a snack after work, I had no issue forking over my money after this great experience. That, and it took all of five minutes from the time we ordered to the time the pizza was sitting in front of us.
I will most definitely be making Stickmen Brewing Company one of my new go-to locations. Great beer, great food, and-- most importantly --great staff made this place much more than I was expecting for an afternoon pit stop on my way home from...

Like a lot of other reviews say, the pizza is typically burned in certain areas, not inedible, but it does make for some not so tasty bites. The beer, in my opinion, is not very good. It tastes "syrupy". Like a coffee shop that puts syrup in coffee to give it a vanilla, or caramel, or whatever twist, just like that Stickmen's puts some sort of thick, sugary, syrup in the beer to give it flavor. In fact, they barely have any normal beers that just taste like a good beer. Not every beer needs some sort of unique berry or fruit flavor. Just a simple ale, or lager, or stout that can stand alone as a good beer without an unnecessary flavor twist would be a welcome addition to the menu.
Beer and pizza aside, a few things about the service need to be said. There is none. You basically have to do everything yourself. Then they have the audacity to ask for tip.
Also, the place is full of flies in the summer, with no air conditioning.
Overall, it's never been a pleasant experience for me personally. But, it's always crowded and people...
Read moreWent to Stickmen on 2/25 and sat at the bar. The pizza was perfect and the selection of beer was too. Its fun sitting at the bar because the staff are more than happy to allow you to taste beers before ordering a full pint. The real reason I'm writing this review: To top off a fantastic dinner, there was some guy walking around with a cool and rare jacket on. He stood up at the bar next to me to order a beer (I think?) and I had to mention his jacket. We ended up talking for about 15 - 20mins and, at the end, it came up that he was actually the brewmaster for Stickmen. So after we sincerely enjoyed the pizza and a variety of beers, we ended up talking to this really nice guy who took the time to engage in small talk about his jacket, where he went to high school, and whatever else we talked about and then, at the very end, he shared that he made the beers I was happily encouraging him to try! His humbleness to spend time bs'ing with a customer is what I found so cool. It was totally unnecessary but it put our 10/10 night to a 15/10...hanging out with a brewmaster without knowing you're hanging out with a brewmaster...
