Where to begin— first and foremost the food was phenomenal, beyond any expectation. It not only tasted incredible but the presentation was beautiful. Any wedding guest we had a chance to talk to remarked on how it was the best food they have ever been served at a wedding. It was easily the best food I (the bride) have ever had at a wedding, and truthfully is probably in the top three best meals I’ve ever had. The apple braised short ribs fell off the bone and were just perfect. As was the strawberry and rhubarb salad. Lastly, I was eating leftovers of the mushroom potatoes for days (I literally upped our guest count numbers for this exact purpose so that I would have leftovers.) Secondly, the team at subtle approach were just incredible human beings. From the very first call with the head chef Kyle, before we did a tasting, I knew this would be our caterer because I immediately felt a sense of trust and enthusiasm from him that he would do everything he could to make a delicious meal and ensure the food portion of our day went smoothly. At our tasting a few weeks before the wedding, we were BLOWN away by both the energy Kyle brought into the room, and of course how insanely good the food was. We also met Julia at our tasting and loved her so much we hired her as our day of coordinator. She did a phenomenal job taking over all tasks that otherwise would have been much too stressful for me to handle prior to the wedding and day of. She was so fun, personable and just all around incredible. I also want to thank the kitchen staff and servers. Many guests remarked on how kind everyone was, going above and beyond what they were there to do. Always ensuring guests were served, waters were filled, etc. I found subtle approach on Google and booked based on the description of services as well as the beautiful pictures of food. They exceed every expectation I had tenfold. Thank you SO MUCH for making our special day even better with beautiful and tasty food, it was truly art. Kyle and his team at Subtle Approach catering did an amazing job at our wedding at Thornewood Castle! Their food was fantastic which we didn’t think we’d find when we looked for wedding catering. All our guests loved the food! Kyle’s team cooked the food onsite at Thornewood which I think contributed to it tasting so great. Most wedding caterers are notorious for tasting bad or bland but the beef that Kyle cooked was honestly better than any restaurant I’ve ever tasted. All their other food was top notch, too. I was surprised with their vegetarian option – roasted cauliflower with a special butter sauce and cherry tomatoes. I love meat but when we tried the cauliflower at the tasting, I was surprised that vegetables could taste that good.

For our tasting session, they offered it to us free of charge which we soon found out was because they were so confident in the quality of their food. We even showed up to the tasting 30 minutes late so the food had been sitting and we still loved it. Before Subtle Approach, we tried a tasting with a much more popular caterer who charged us $100 and the food was terrible.

Subtle Approach was very accommodating to us changing our order many times before the wedding and handled all the necessary rentals for dining. Their prices were around average or maybe a bit below average when compared to quotes we got from a few other caterers.

Having Subtle Approach do the catering for our wedding was the best choice we could have made! Not only were the dishes unique and incredibly delicious, but we were so impressed by Kyle and Barbro’s kindness, thoughtfulness, and willingness to be flexible to accommodate ALL dietary restrictions. Our guests felt this too and had so many compliments to give, not only about the food but also about the impeccable service from the entire Subtle Approach team. Kyle was also so helpful in the planning process, as he helped us figure out what rentals we’d need and then organized everything with the rental company after we'd made our choices.
