Service and food was okay. Owner was extremely disrespectful and snarky regarding my sister with autism and her service dog. Did not check on how our food or service was but immediately talked about how people sneak in dogs and asked if dog was a service dog and then if she was truly one when we said she was. We had been there for almost 2 hours at this point and waiting to pay out with the SERVICE dog under the table not making a single noise even having comments of how people around us weren’t aware there was a dog. Will not be back and recommend the owner realize not all disabilities are visible.
*To add she has a bright labeled neon vest and ID badge on her vest. There was no reason to question if she was a service dog, let alone to continue to question it after we said she was. And then to add to your response about leashed dogs being allowed outside is showing you are missing the reason for being us upset. My sister has enough trauma and need for the dog to not have people stressing her out more by being judgy and questioning her right to be in a building with her dog. Just hope this is a reminder in the future to be kind and considerate of those walking into your building, especially if you have a child with autism you...
Read moreThe Deuce is my home-base for breakfast. Whether for a regular menu item, a special scramble off the big board, a build-your-own omelet, or a lighter dish like homemade granola, it has your breakfast desire.
It is a cool setting, with records and other memorabilia on the walls, and a hot sauce bar featuring dozens of obscure bottles of heat. The bar is the place to be to take in enlightening conversation from Chris Cooley, the multi-faceted artist that just happens to own the diner. While he skillfully engages on any topic, his business sense subtly carries the day. Everything is in place, anything can be done, and it is always done efficiently. It is an eclectic crew, for sure, but they make meals happen in an endearing fashion.
Best Of:
Big Waffle - A well-done round and quartered waffle, sweet enough that no syrup is necessary, topped with bacon and eggs any style.
Trainer's Special - Scrambled egg whites and sausage, and a big buckwheat pancake. Again, no syrup needed.
Harvard Special - If you go big, the big chicken-fried chicken with eggs and other breakfast accompaniment will handle any appetite.
Lunch is great too! But I'm a breakfast guy, and BBD II The Deuce is...
Read moreI’ve got mixed feelings about this place. The service was nice, even if very young, and the food was good. But I think they need to reevaluate their prices, portions, or both.
My partner got the chicken and waffles, which was a decent price for the portion and tasted delicious — no complaints there! I got the cinnamon swirl French toast combo and it came out with the two tiniest little French toast slices that were about English muffin size. The price on this was fine, but the portion was very small. They could fix this by just using standard sized toast slices, honestly.
The real issue here is that they’re charging $4.75 for a side of two eggs that were scrambled so long they became tough and rubbery, and had no salt, pepper, or seasoning whatsoever. While their bacon side costs less for 2 pieces than their eggs. This makes no sense.
I’d be interested to see the portion sizes of their other dishes because they seem to vary greatly and the pricing doesn’t match up at all.
TL;DR: Decent food, nice service, inconsistent pricing and portions. Okay for a visit with family/kids but not really anything special from what we...
