Essie’s Soulful Kitchen — Restaurant in Tulsa

We stopped in for the first time last night for dinner just by chance and I’m so glad we did. It was easily some of the best food I’ve had in a long time.

We tried the chicken sandwich with special sauce and a bbq burger. My 3yo had chicken tenders as they usually do lol.

The chicken was crispy, flavorful and juicy. I have a hard time finding chicken that has all three. The ingredients were fresh and flavorful. It was one of the best chicken sandwiches I’ve had.

The burger my fiance ordered was even better and after trying his, I wished I’d gotten it because that BBQ sauce was the best I’ve ever had and I could’ve drank it by itself it was so good.

The tenders were a hit with my very very picky eater. I’m always impressed when he will eat something enthusiastically.

The fries were very good too. Any time I’ve had thick fries like this, I’ve never liked them because they’re always soggy but these? Soft and warm on the inside and light and crispy on the outside.

I was thoroughly impressed with the food but Essie and the chef were so gracious and welcoming as well. It was truly such a nice experience.

Went up there today, I was excited and I have been waiting for them to open so now that I got to try them made my day when the food was actually good! My man was skeptic about trying new places since the last few places we ate at have been gross. I got the fries he got the cheese burger and my daughter got the chicken tender meal. We went out to the parking lot tried the food and had to go back in to get the brisket sandwich. Everything was just how they pictured it and the taste was great and unique! I love a place that add flavor that doesn't taste like everyone else. And I am a hard one to please. My daughter is picky and I should have took a picture in the backseat grabbing. She loved it and usually she always complains. They are right down the road from us, so they will get to know us real well. The atmosphere is a cool jazzy vibe. The customer service is great. Both of them are sweet. The chef is great he knows what he is doing back there. You gotta go check them out! Visited Tulsa for Mother’s Day weekend and tried this place on a whim. They had just opened so the place was empty and they were still setting up the kitchen, but we didn’t mind the wait. They were out of their macaroni and cheese and fried fish because of a large catering they had. So we were sad we didn’t get to try those, but we’ll just have to stop by again! We ordered Essie’s Fries, the brisket, the bbq burger, and their fried wings. And the man at the counter was so nice, he offered to trade two of our sides of fries for two desserts. So we got a slice of sweet potato pie and some lemon loaf slices. I could not recommend this place enough! Everything we ordered was delicious. You HAVE to order Essie’s Fries when you visit! The crunch of their fries are amazing and their bbq sauce is so good. And we spent less than $15 each! You definitely get your money’s worth here.
