My dad and my boyfriend’s dad really wanted us to try White River Fish Market while we were in Tulsa. My dad remembered it being delicious the last time he was in Tulsa, and he was relieved to know it was still there after all those years. I knew I would enjoy it, but my boyfriend was a little skeptical. He has a huge shellfish allergy, and was doubtful he would be able to eat anything, but was wanting me to try it with his dad regardless. To our surprise, my boyfriend could and did safely eat here! He had to stay restricted to the grilled/broiled menu, but it was delicious regardless. I ordered the fried Whole Flounder with fries and fried okra. My boyfriend got the Orange Tough with corn and fried okra. His dad got the jumbo shrimp with okra and green beans. While my boyfriend was excited he was able to eat, he wasn’t as impressed as me and his dad. My flounder was huge and tasty, especially with the cocktail sauce. The shrimp that his dad had were also so juicy for how thick they were, and the green beans were probably the best side that was at our table. I’m glad we were able to make a stop here!

First timer at this establishment. Fish kabob was delicious. 🤌 Coleslaw was average and the onion rings were large and homemade. I didn’t like having to wait 10 minutes to have my waitress come so I could get some tarter sauce. Ladies pushing the cart of dirty dishes got very close to you when they cleaned off tables. All the clinging of the dishes next to my head while I was eating gave me a horrible headache. The worst part of my experience was going to the bathroom to come back to my table and find that my food was gone and my table completely cleaned off with NEW CUSTOMERS sitting at it. I wasn’t gone for long, I just went to the restroom. l literally asked my waitress before I went, where the restroom was…she could have told the table cleaners I was only in the bathroom and coming back. I was so upset I just left without speaking to anyone. (I had already paid since you pay for your food when you order it). The food was good, but all the other hiccups in my experience will keep me from going back.

Some friends told us about this place and it 100% lived up to their recommendation. Not just a restaurant but a huge seafood market with REALLY good looking fish available. It's a "order at the counter" spot. They had a huge selection seafood plus other stuff like fried alligator and frog legs. You can choose from fried, broiled, or grilled (and blackened if you ask!) for your preparation. We started with oysters and they were super fresh. My ONLY gripe was they were still attached to the shell and I'd have preferred saltines to Waverly crackers but that was no biggie, as I slurped them down anyway! They make their own cocktail sauce in house too and it was great! The boss lady had the whole snapper, blackened, and I went old school with the fried catfish and shrimp. Everything was top notch. Heck, even the sides were perfect. Those onion rings! Plus the hushpuppies were some of the best I've had. Great meal and we will be returning.

Two stars was for the customer service. The service was excellent. However, the restaurant food was okay depending upon what you ordered. First what I considered good out of what I ordered. The catfish tasted fine to me. It wasn't too oily or fishy. I also liked the cocktail shrimp which they gave us, my mom and I on the house since it's our first time there, is good. I especially like the cocktail sauce for its flavor. Oh, the hush puppies were also good. They had a spicy kick to them. Now the mediocre. The fried shrimp was too thin although still good. Plus the coleslaw could use a little more vinegar because it tasted as if it didn't have any flavor. I like the flavor of the fried scallops, but they were too small. It was like just one bite and it was gone. The worst two things about what I ordered there are the crab cake and the portion size. The crab cake, although nicely presented, tasted too much like bread. The proportion size does NOT fit the price they charge for the meal. In other words, I believe they charge a lot more than it was worth. To explain it more, imagine the old lady from the Wendy's commercial coming to this restaurant. As she look at her plate, instead of saying, "where's the beef," she'll be asking where's the seafood. And as she's trying the crab cake, she could say, where's the crab in this crab cake? In short, I like trying new places. It was worth coming for the customer service, but not worth it...

Went today for the first time with hubby, who last went there right before Covid. I almost didn't go into the restaurant because the beyond-dumpy-strip mall was seriously dilapidated and off-putting. I'm all for a fun dive joint, but good grief! Yuck! Hubs said don't freak out, the food will be worth it. I hoped the place was better on the inside...nope. Many ceiling tiles were leak-stained and drooping, the red booth seat we sat in was repaired with silver duck tape, the table peeling and falling apart. But the food was good, probably a B+. However, Hubs said the portion size was much smaller now and everything was more expensive -- very expensive for what you get! AND the service was awful! No check back, no extra napkins, no water refills or extra silverware. Just a grumpy, unsmiling, annoyed server. And she forgot the pie we ordered and hubs had to get up and go to the counter and show the receipt. She begrudgingly served the pie, but I had to use my dinner fork because no clean fork was offered and I sure didn't want to ask Ms Grumpy for a clean one. I think the owners are riding on their almost 100-year history and the hope that the rundown place is charming....yeah, that's a big no....

If you are looking for a premium dining experience with top quality seafood from a menu featuring exotic recipes in an elegant setting...White River Fish Market may not be for you. If you are seeking top quality seafood cooked perfectly with straight-forward quality and sides served in a casual atmosphere at an absolute bargain price...White River is definitely for you. Hands down the best seafood in Oklahoma. They've been around since the 30's and know a thing or two about how to cook very fresh fish. White River is owned by a small airline...your fish is fresh from a coast instead of frozen in a local warehouse. I had the broiled flounder, which meant a whole flounder, cooked perfectly. The hushpuppies are great, not overwhelmed by onion but featuring sweet cornbread and just enough red peppers to give it mild spiciness. My wife had the fried platter, which was a sampler of different fish. The scallops may have been the best we've ever eaten. All fish prices extraordinarily inexpensive. Finished off the meal with a very good slice of buttermilk pie. As the name suggests, this is also a fish market where you have above-average selection for fresh seafood. Cannot recommend this...
