Start your meal with the Causa! Causa is a delicious, layered mashed potato salad, seasoned with avocado, onions, egg, and Peruvian yellow pepper. In between the two layers of the mashed potatoes is a layer of chicken or shrimp (your choice) mixed with what I thought was a mayo based dressing, green onion and other spices. We ordered it with shrimp. It was topped off with a slice of hardboiled egg, an olive. A delicious appetizer or even a meal by itself. We were in the restaurant at 2:30 right between the busy hours. There were still a half a dozen patrons enjoying food in the small dining area. Cecilia the owner was busing tables and serving customers. Super nice lady! It was a pleasure to meet her. The walls of the restaurant are decorated with Peruvian art and souvenirs. In the background TVs are playing soft Peruvian music while showing the beautiful landscape and animals of the country. Upon entering were promptly greeted and seated. Drinks first. Manos has a large selection of South American beverages. I don’t think unsweet iced tea is on their drink menu. I didn’t know, but, that is what I asked for. Cecilia said she would make a fresh pitcher and she did! I had been studying the menu prior to arrival. The Jalea de Pescado kept catching my eye. It is Sea Bass seasoned with garlic, salt, and flour then fried for 2 minutes. This is some awesome crispy perfectly fried fish accompanied with perfectly fried Peruvian yucca, Peruvian boiled white corn, and a crunchy sampling of mountain roasted corn. The menu describes a “creole onion sauce” on the side for the fish but, it sure tasted like bottled tartar sauce to me. There was a massive amount of fish on the plate; easily enough for two people! The Peruvian boiled white corn was nothing exceptional. It was an interesting to try it for the first time though. It was large kernels of corn similar to hominy, but with more texture and flavor. My wife was there to have the Mofongo with Shrimp. This too was a big portion of food. A good sized bowl filled with lightly seasoned mofongo, large shrimp, topped with a flavorful sauce that had a taste very similar to Thousand Island dressing. Very good Peruvian/South American Cuisine If you are looking for other Mexican restaurants in the area, check out my reviews in my collection "Jalapeno Highway" on Yelp. I've probably been there.

I love this place. The food is always amazing. La Cause is very delicious, creamy and flavorful. Very well seasoned. My favorite dessert is crema volteada. Always order it when I dine In. Their food does take a long time to be ready. About 45 minutes, I know because I timed them. PSA: Also, when ordering on the phone they will not prepare your food until one gets there. Just a heads up, to those that would like to order ahead. They do add an extra fee when paying with card. That is why I did not pay ahead because I will NOT pay the fee. When I have cash in hand. Lesson learned. I learned this on my own. ***Responding to the owner that said someone else's comment is non-sense. I have ordered at different restaurants, I call ahead without having to pay over the phone. I pay cash when I get there and my food is ready. It is an inconvenience that your restaurant is not able to be honest with the customers and let them know you charge a percentage to pay with card. Put up a sign, that this restaurant charges a fee. I understand people order and they forget to pick up their food. But also let the customer know on the phone that their food will not be ready until one pays.*** Thanks Everybody!!

It’s a small place but very clean and nice! The man that served us last night was amazingly friendly and warm. It felt like we were having dinner at his home. We tried the Tacu Tacu.. which was befitting for the last day of Black History Month 😉. According to their menu it is a dish “created by African slaves brought to Peru during the colonial period.” We also had the Arroz Chaufa.. which is fried rice influenced by Chinese immigrants to Peru. And finally, the Pabellon Criollo, a Venezuelan dish of stewed shredded beef and rice and beans. The food was very flavorful and delicious and reasonably priced for the big portions they serve! I also personally enjoyed the fact that their menu gave background about some of the dishes! It made for a very cool cultural experience and definitely influenced what we chose to order. Go check them out! 😊

So, my family and I get to this restaurant, because we trusted the reviews and it looked pretty good. When we first got there, there was only one waitress visible. We placed our drinks order & then took some time to order food. When we ordered the food, the food took FOREVER. My mom literally had enough time to take my dad to his doctors appointment, that took about an hour and come back...and the food STILL hadn’t came out. We waited about another 30-40 minutes and it finally came out. We observed so many people come in and leave without their food and cancel the order. This place is a joke. When asked if we could get some more arepas (which were the only thing that actually tasted good) the waitress straight up ROLLED HER EYES and said “I don’t know if she’ll want to make them” (referring to the cook) and when asked why, she said “because the cook is eating right now”...... What? This place obviously has some management issues. They aren’t aware of how many people they have coming in and they don’t prep anything ahead of time. They don’t have their business together. Then she had the AUDACITY to tell us “I’ve been treating you guys right and waiting on you guys”... which was true, but it was slow service and she had a comment to make every time we asked about our food. Not one apology for the wait. AND, she asked us to pay for our food BEFORE it came out because “the food is already being made”. I suggest that they cut down on menu, so that they can afford more staff to cut down on wait time, because it’s not like what we ordered was all that great to begin with. Never...

They need to do something about their service. Did not get a menu until 30 minutes later and waited for our food for another hour and a half without getting our drinks. Plus everything is over priced so it’s really not worth to come down here.

Updated 03/15/21 Response to owner: Thank you for your reply and it truly shows how you treat potential customers who are writing honest reviews. I write honest reviews whether bad or harsh it may be but it’s an honest one that I personally experienced. I can see that you have bashfully responded to customers who experienced the same as I did and calling them a liar or said they’re exaggerating?? They as well as I have zero reason to lie. If anything reviews are to help you fix problems customers are experiencing. And one for you to go through all my reviews just to bash me for my incident with Sams is completely unprofessional of you. Unlike you (the owner), Sams resolved my problem quickly and did not go call their customers names. Hope everyone can read all reviews before they go to places because you sir/ma’m have taught me that’s extremely important. I have seen other reviews from years ago that voiced their dissatisfaction and instead of trying to resolve the issue you do the complete opposite and say the same response you are giving me. “We checked the security cam footage..” and calling them a liar when in fact you wasted their time by making a food that shouldn’t take over a whole hour. And saying god bless is not going to make you seem like a...
