Perkins American Food Co. — Restaurant in Tunkhannock Township

I recently dined at Perkins Restaurant & Bakery in Tunkhannock and had a somewhat mixed experience, but I'd like to emphasize the positive aspects as well as the areas that could use improvement.

On the plus side, the restaurant has an excellent location, and the quality of the food was quite good. I particularly enjoyed the delicious breakfast options they offered. The staff at the beginning of our visit were extremely friendly and helpful, which added to our overall enjoyment.

However, there was a notable hiccup during our visit when we encountered a staff member who was quite the opposite. Unfortunately, she seemed disinterested in their job, lacked a sense of responsibility, and even reacted poorly when we asked a question about our order before storming off. This created a jarring contrast to the friendly and attentive employees we had initially interacted with.

Our table was left uncleared, and we had to wait a long time for our bill. It's important to note that it wouldn't be fair to judge the entire restaurant based on this single experience with an unfriendly and unprofessional employee.

While I had my reservations about the service during this visit, I'd like to highlight that the location and food quality are definite strong points. However, there is room for improvement in the beverage department. They don't offer cappuccino, latte macchiato, or espresso, which I believe should be standard in most restaurants today.

I have to say I love the breakfast here. I have come twice now and have not been disappointed yet. I just love our waitress! She has got to be one of the best I've ever had! As a former waitress myself it is such a refreshing change of pace when you have a waitress who is awesome!! I swear they don't pay her enough for the rude people that are dealt with. The last time I was there this one lady was so rude to her it took everything in me not to get up and say if you have nothing nice to say about our wonderful waitress you should have stayed home! There's no reason to be rude to a waitress who is awesome and very accommodating! I cannot remember what the name of the meal I get is but it has a piece of the second best kielbasa as schiffs is the best, it has bacon and sausage links, 2 eggs, home fries (cubes) with onions sure you can choose a different potato this is just my favorite, and I get the 3 pancakes instead of toast or muffin. I love love love how they give you a little thermal coffee pot of coffee so you can fill your own cup at your leisure and get as many refills as you want! I was never a fan of their lunch/dinner menu but the breakfast is so good!! If in tunkhannock area you would kick yourself for choosing another diner for breakfast. I cannot say anything bad about the service or breakfast. I go Saturday mornings. Definitely highly recommend! Horrible experience, will never go here again. It was about 6:30pm, I saw they closed at 8:00pm, so I made sure I asked if it was okay if we ate in since they closed in an hour in a half, the girl said of course. So we sat down, ordered our drinks and food, I was kind of on the edge of getting the skillet with rice, shrimp and veggies. I did anyway, my boyfriend ordered a thanksgiving dinner, and the food was absolutely disgusting, and cold. Usually when you get a skillet, it comes out steaming, and you can’t even touch the skillet. I was able to touch the skillet no problem, it wasn’t even hot. So I told the waitress that it was disgusting and cold and asked if we can get a little bit of a discount since I only took 2 bites, and she proceeded to tell me “you ordered it, and you ate off of it, so we can’t give a discount”, okay, but I worked in a restaurant before, so I know for a fact they can give a discount, if the customer isn’t satisfied.
