When I was a child, we had a favorite Chinese restaurant called Magic Wok. I had many fond memories at Magic Wok and proudly called it my favorite restaurant in Northern Virginia. There was nothing better. Then, we moved out of Magic Wok’s 10 mile delivery range. We tried to make the pilgrimage from time to time but with traffic and whatnot we just ended up losing touch.

Ever since those days, I’ve been trying to find a takeout Chinese restaurant that would compare and all to no avail.

Then, one day, I was out with a walk with my daughter and just happened to see someone walk into Chans Kitchen and come out with Chinese food. I figured I’d give it a shot.

Friends, I think I may have found my new favorite Chinese restaurant. Magic who? Haha. Just kidding.

We ordered quite a bit of food and when my wife asked how long it would take, they said, “Uh, probably about 5 minutes.” That’s how you know.

Chans doesn’t have a dining area, they just do takeout and they’re a legitimate hole in the wall. Like the kind of shopping center you’d be worried about catching some illness not seen since the Middle Ages.

But let me tell you, we didn’t get sick and the food was delicious. The wonton soup was the best I’ve ever had, and I don’t say that lightly. The prices are reasonable, the service was prompt and friendly, and there was plenty of food provided.

All in all, we’ll definitely be coming back for many more great future memories.

Now enjoy some very unflattering pictures...

After a long awaited time, I was so excited to try Chans Kitchen! Definitely will be a repeat customer.

We ordered the crispy beef, beef chow fun, wonton soup (QT sized), and crab rangoon. The food was fresh and delicious! I came at an off peak time, and it only took 15 minutes for the food to be ready. It’s great to order from a local restaurant with owners who have a long history in the area. They were kind and courteous when we ordered, gave recommendations, and checked in with me to see if I needed any utensils for the carry out order.

The interior of the restaurant was very clean and brightly lit. There is a bench available for you to sit down on while you wait for your food; otherwise, you can wait in your car since there is plenty of parking available right outside the store. Also, there is a restroom available for customers that is very clean...

THIS restaurant recently opened, I think, well, at least it is new to me...

I have ordered 5 times from this place, and each time the food had gotten better! In fact, the only issue I ever had, was on my very first order, and the Owner, herself, called me to make it right! Every order since then has been outstanding! The food is fresh, and made to order. All of my food restrictions have been accommodated for properly. The Portions are exceptional. And the flavors are en Pointe! (I have my new go-to Chinese restaurant).

I have since made it a point to introduce myself to the owner. She and her brother keep a clean kitchen, and harder workers are difficult to find. I can only think of one other restaurant which I have actually encouraged people to try, but please, do yourself a...

Easy to pick up. Nice person behind the counter. The scallion pancakes were great. The wings were great and not as greasy as other places. The duck was good, drier and not as greasy, but not my favorite duck. Egg drop soup was normal and good. The mapo tofu was good, though not my favorite. The sweet and sour chicken was great, nice and simple fried breaded chicken. The dumplings were good. My family said it was kinda like soup dumplings, like other reviewers have said. I didn't detect that though. Overall, I will definitely order from there again. If I'm looking solely for mapo tofu, I'd prefer from somewhere else. But I wouldn't object to any of their food.
