Nino's Pizza & Ice Cream — Restaurant in Union Township

My friend and I were returning from a hiking trip to Ricketts Glen State Park and looking for a place to eat. Just by chance we went by Nino's. My friend asked me what I thought and I said why not. We had never eaten there or even knew of any reviews of the restaurant.

Upon entry, the place looked very nice. It looked like an upscale pizza place. There was a board with several specials displayed with items such as Ribeye and Delmonico steaks and some really tasty sounding seafood like crab cakes and salmon.

My friend and I were interested in the steaks but weren't sure considering it was, in all actuality, a pizza place. We decided to ask our server, Judy, about the food. I asked her what her choice would be between the crab cakes and the Ribeye? She suggested the Ribeye but to add a crab cake. I believe the steaks are served on Fridays and Saturdays so it might be a good idea to confirm that.

She was extremely confident and proclaimed that Nino's had the best food around and made similar claims particularly about the steaks and also the seafood. I jokingly told her that she was making a bold claim about the food but I said I would give her suggestion a try! My friend decided on the Delmonico steak. She was extremely friendly and my friend and I were extremely impressed by her.

Both of our meals came with salads which were very good. Our steaks arrived and they looked amazing! I cannot begin to tell you how delicious our steaks were!! The crab cake was equally amazing! We both also had baked potatoes and they were cooked to perfection! The food certainly lived up to Judy's claims!! The service was stellar and the atmosphere was fantastic!

If you are ever in the Shickshinny area, do yourself a big favor and give it a try! Thanks for the wonderful suggestions and...

Been coming here for 6 yrs and this is the worst service and pizza I have ever received after calling in my order then getting a ride to come pick my order up.. And also I gave u my # if any problems with my order u can call me but No!! I'm told after 30 mins when I arrive that oh sorry we're out of onion rings, ok then someone puts a pizza out on counter while I paying then after 10 mins we also find out oh we didn't make ur Ranch Bacon Cheese fries but ur pizza has been done and is sitting on counter well I'm upset ask for manager.. I don't believe she was the manager and it is not something to chuckle about in front of me , I'm the customer who is highly upset.. So she said we can refund u the fries what no I should of been called by telephone before my 30 mins and now it's been 20 more additional mins waiting and now my pizza is cold . She says well we can remake it.. No No u took long enough I got hungry people at home waiting and this is unexceptable that BUFFALO WING PIZZA U NEVER REFUNDED ME FOR WAS HOURS OLD THAT CRUST WAS HARD CHEESE WAS DRIED UP CHICKEN WAS TUFF AND HARD AND DEFINITELY NOT MILD SAUCE.. I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHO THE OWNER IS BUT I NEED TO GET UR EMPLOYEE'S AND MANAGEMENT SOME RETRAINING CAUSE THAT WAS DISGUSTING AND UNCALLED FOR.. I know how food is cooked in fast food cause all my life I worked with food and that was Horrible and Disrespectful to a 6...

I had stopped in at Nino's during my 30min lunchbreak to get some food. The staff was initially very polite and upbeat and I explained I was on a short lunch, how long would a Stromboli take. 25min I was told. Perfect! So I placed the order and took a seat in the waiting area. 35min later, well past the end of my break, still no food. I tried for another 6 or 7 min to get the attention of anyone but they all seemed to "just miss me". Finally someone came up and apologized for the extended wait and even offered a refund. I rejected the refund, stating I simply needed something to eat and I was just nervous as I'm tracked via GPS and would likely get in trouble for overstaying. Eventually I got my food, thanked them and left. I ate in between stops and was pleasantly surprised at the quality and taste of the food! The restaurant seemed nice though I'd only really seen the take-out area. Despite the momentary bout of being ignored, the staff seemed to really care about what they were doing and tending to customers as best they could.

Perhaps next time I'm in the area I'll have more time to actually sit and try more of...
