Heart's Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Union

I called and ordered a grilled chicken salad with thousand island dressing tonight and was told it would be ready in 20 minutes. I arrived 20 minutes later and expected to wait. The younger female at the register asked for my name and checked on my food and told me it wasn’t ready yet. I said okay and was going to stand near the register area to wait until I noticed signs saying not to wait there. So I waited in the small area between the kitchen and front doors. That area is not big enough to be a waiting area and it was extremely hot with no airflow. As I waited I noticed that customers were being called to the register when their food was ready. So I waited patiently. After 45 minutes I go to the register to check on the status of my order. Another female walks over to what may have been a shelf or rack in the kitchen area, picks up my salad, and begins to put it in a bag. I asked to check the salad and opened the box to ensure the chicken was warm..not hot..warm. It was stone cold. I tasted a piece of it to make sure my hands weren’t just hot from sitting in that sweat box of a waiting area and it was tasteless…no seasoning at all. I kindly informed the female that I was not paying for a salad with cold chicken after I sat and waited on it for 45 minutes. I asked if they knew how long the salad had been sitting there and why no one came to get me. The younger female stated it was just made. I told her it couldn’t have been because the chicken was cold. Both females just looked at me. No one offered to fix the issue by heating up the chicken in the microwave. I left the salad at the restaurant because the chicken was cold and tasteless. After I left the owner called. I told him what happened and he stated: 1. I had to wait because there were other people ahead of me. 2. Food preparation regulations prevent them from serving hot chicken in a cold salad. He never apologized or offered to fix the issue. I’ve never been served a grilled chicken salad with cold chicken. And I eat grilled chicken salads from Bantam Chef, Zaxby’s, La Fogata, Fat Sam’s, and El Poblano. I don’t care how busy you are, it does not take 45 minutes to...

My husband and I were traveling through Union saw this place and decided to stop and try it. They had one bathroom that we had to wait will a waitress was on the phone inside. We could hear her talking then she finally came out still on the phone. Next we waited 5 minutes for someone to come to our table to give us a menu or acknowledge us. There were only 6 people in the entire place including us. Finally got the menu i asked the waitress what came in the gryo platter she looked stunned i asked and all she could say it was lamb, then i asked about the hamburger steak steak if there was a gravey in it again the waitress looked at me funny and said it is a special sauce. I asked is it a gravey she said i dont know it is a special sauce. Finally i just said give me the grill chicken breast with a baked potatoe she had to adk someone if they had baked potatoes. My husband ordered white fried chicken dinner. We waited another 15 mins for our food and guess what my husband dinner was not what he ordered. Took us about 3 mins for get someone attention to tell them. They said oh well it will be 6 mins to cook that for you. It was on our ticket he ordered the white meat fried chicken. He told them we couldnt wait he would pay for my food to go. He went to the counter to pay and the girl argued with him that he had to have a ticket. He kept telling her they took it when she messed up the order. This went on for about 2 mins. Finally some lady yelled at him its free. My husband told me to lets go and not bring the food with us. We are from the Columbia area actually Chapin and business owners. We eat out alot and this has never ever happened to us. We love to try new places when we travel for business and always support mom and pop places BUT this was just awful. There are no words to describe...

We were just passing by in travels and happen to stop in and man are we glad we did... This place is just fantastic... From the moment we walked in we were greeted and sat down.. Our waitress was right there on the spot and never left is without... We liked her a lot her name is Chili bean.. 😁 😁 😁✌️ When I paid for the meal the manager introduced herself to me and asked how everything was and made sure everything was fine... I tell you I can't say enough good about this place the food was absolutely fantastic.. I got the pork chop plate which was succulent wonderful juicy tasty and we also got a cheesesteak.. The quality of the food is fantastic.. It was hot, Yummie, tasty and Plenty of wonderful food on the plate.... See our pics we took here today..= we definitely will return,... Service was great our food was great the price is great.. We can't say enough good here .... Highly Recommended and we Highly Recommend 'Ol Chili Bean for your Amazing Wait staff ,....
