Had a large party fo our first time eating here. Everyone said food was good. Big wings and burgers, very good crab cake. I normally purchase surf and turf when I go out to eat. Didnt happen here since it wasnt an option to add a crab cake to my steak dinner without buying two main dishes plus the steak prices were very high priced so decided crab cake it is. I was shocked to see only one crab cake instead of the normal two at any other restaurant but the size was decent being just one. My sides were fried garlic potatoes and fried cauliflower. They lacked seasoning and very small portions. I'm going to say 1/2 cup based on my kitchen experience. Eatable however, and not one crumb gone to waste. Did notice some kitchen inconstancy based on food temperature on burgers and despite people ordering the same dishes they looked different on each persons plate. One persons wings had a ton of garlic where the others barely any. Despite burger temps all other food temps were spot on. What kind of caught me off guard was expect to be charged for soda refills. Now that was extremely odd. Alcohol drinks people had all had too much alcohol. Some people may like that but a alcohol drink is supposed to have balance. Lastly one of the servers took away my crab dip with almost a half a serving left without my knowledge and that kind of ticked me off because of the food pricing. When I questioned it he said he was told to take it by someone else at our table and we could order another one. Um no thanks. How about go back and replace it at least with à smaller portion as a comp. Oh and asking for extra bread for our two different appetizers I had to laugh when they came back with 3 little pieces on a small plate. Like come on its bread. They do offer a food award program for returning customers. With the cost you will need that small perk if you can afford the overall pricing to eat here often. Overall I can give an overall rating of more than 3.75 stars despite me hitting the 4 star because they didnt deserve a 3 rating and closer to the 4. Will I return? Maybe in the future but could not be one of our regular places because of pricing. And let me add here. I totally understand the cost of food because of Biden administration's inflation but this place is priced for another 4 year term of more inflation. I suggest the owner not charging for a soda refill since the cost is pennies on a dollar and increase side portions to 3/4 cup and just add more bread for sides or when a customers ask for extra please have servers bring put more than 3 pieces for 4 different people asking for more bread. Oh, lots of staff on hand to assist with tables but dont have them standing in the front pointing to tables. I felt like I was being watched in a prison chow hall by correctional officers. So is the food good? Yes. Is the pricing high? Yes. Is the place clean? Yes. However you need parking lot work. Puddles of water and mud in the parking lot is not a good look. Very easy fix with some stone. If you haven't eaten here and are able to afford a higher than normal dinner night out I say...
Read moreParty of 4 at there last night and we really enjoyed our meal.
We skipped appetizers, though they all looked very good on the menu.
For dinner, we had the Lobster Roll, Boondocks Blues Burger (on gluten free bun), and 2 Jumbo Shrimp platters.
Everything was fantastic and cooked perfectly. The Lobster Roll was absolutely amazing and the Jumbo Shrimp had excellent flavor as well.
The only downer was that the gluten free bun fell apart on the first bite, so my g/f had to just eat it with a fork and knife. This isn't all that uncommon with gluten free breads, but it does take away from the meal just a little bit. She also had to substitute fries for another side dish, because they use the same deep fryer for other dishes that contain flour/wheat, so there's going to be some cross contamination for people with gluten allergies/Celiac).
For dessert, we had the Cheesecake and the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake. Both were incredible. Adding a gluten free option to the dessert menu would likely be highly appreciated by anyone with allergies.
Our server was friendly and attentive, and our meals were brought out in a timely manner.
The owner (Mike) was walking around and checking on things throughout the restaurant and was very receptive and appreciative to our feedback about the buns.
Prices are right in line with any standard chain, but the food is so much better, not to mention that you'd be supporting a local business.
Will add this to our list of local...
Read moreBeen there a few times with different groups of people and decided it was time to write. This has been a shockingly pleasant surprise! I avoided this location for years when it was a small, local run down bar. I only recently discovered it was completely renovated into a nice restaurant with an owner who clearly cares about ensuring the place remains high quality. The food has been spectacular. We've tried a variety of dishes, from burgers, pulled pork, a chicken sandwich, a shrimp dish, scallops, fresh cut fries, mac and cheese, and a lobster roll. All of is has been great. No complaints from anyone! What a gem for the Sunbury area! Definitely not typical for this area. The cooking staff still care about their craft. (To the staff - please don't lose your passion!) The atmosphere is down to earth, not pretentious, friendly, and warm. Good mix of classic rock always playing in the background. The servers have always been very kind, patient, and friendly. The drinks... the Peach LIT is absolutely amazing. Not a lot of dessert choices which is just fine given I'm usually quite full by the end. But, I did try the PB chocolate pie... oh so good. HIGHLY...
