Tried Funcks a few years ago and wasn't impressed. We've been seeing and hearing a lot about them so decided to try again. Picked a night they had live music because I'm a fan. Totally different experience! The service was very, very good. Everyone we encountered was extremely polite, friendly and helpful. Thank you for that!!! We put our name on the wait list for a table and sat at one of the bars, I believe there are two. When our table became available we decided to skip it and stay at the bar. There was plenty of room and the service was fantastic! We ordered two appetizers, the brussel sprouts and shrimp. Both were delicious!!! So good!!! We shared a brisket sandwich and fries for dinner. The description sounded good. It was loaded with meat, not many cooked onions and unfortunately very dry. We were surprised given how amazingly delicious the appetizers were. We shared a dessert that was very good. Great drink selection. Looking forward to trying different dinner options next time. Definitely try the brussel sprouts!! I'm looking forward to those when we go back! Great atmosphere, recommended giving them a try.
UPDATE - We just went in for a 3rd time. Unfortunately this visit wasn't great. Same staff, different crowd. Apparently there were a bunch of regulars in and since we're not, we waited for service. We had to continually push our empty glasses forward or wave down servers at the bar. We wanted dessert, but eventually gave up. When we FINALLY got our tab we only had big bills (cash). The server/bar tender asked if we needed change. Ummmmm, we're good tippers, even when the service lacks, but this particular evening I'm not sure why he thought they deserved 50%. Seriously? He wanted half of what my bill was for a tip for the service we got??? We graciously left 25%. If you pay a little more attention to the newbies they may...
Read moreI wanted to grab something to eat with outdoor seating since I had my dog with me. We arrived around 7:55 and waited about 5-10 mins for a table. To set the scene, this was not during peak hours…there was barely anyone outside or inside. This place closes at 11pm. There were 4-5 people at the bar. I repeat this was not busy. I saw a handful of servers probably about 7 and no one seemed to be in a rush or hurry. The outdoor patio just recently opened up to have dogs. It is very spacious and has outdoor lights and heaters. I had a party of two only ordered two waters, a flight of beers, french onion soup and a beet salad with chicken- totaling a whopping $43. $21 for a salad with chicken was crazy to me. The onion soup came before the beers which I thought was a little odd about 25 mins after we sat down and it set the mood for the remainder of the evening. There was a live band which was nice and it was not too loud. My salad came about 35 mins in with no fork. I sat contemplating eating with my hands for a solid 15 mins before I saw a server who asked “would you like a fork?” I immediately asked for a box and a fork in the same breath. I packed everything up and proceeded to ask for the check. It came after another 15 mins and I was upset that I had to wait yet again to pay with a card. (I didn’t have enough to pay in cash without getting change or I would have). The tip started out at 20%, 25% then 30% and I just had to laugh. To make this long story longer, if you are going to the bar for a beer or listen to the band it’s probably a good stop-you’ll get complementary waters. Oh dogs also get a free water. They do have a dog menu which ranges from chicken and a burger for $7-8. All in all, the space and band was enjoyable but the service, beer and food was sub...
Read moreUpdate: A friend and I wanted to chill at the bar for a bit tonight (12/18/23). Funcks has a lot going for it. A decent menu, great atmosphere, great beverages. BUT THEIR SERVICE ONCE AGAIN STINKS! We had to ask for ice water twice! My friend ordered wings w/blue cheese. Brought the wings, but no dip! She ignored us. I finally got up and grabbed a mgr who promptly got the dip. We needed silverware. After she refused to look in my direction, I got up and grabbed silverware off of a table setting. For most of the time we were IGNORED. And most of the time there were maybe a handful of people at the bar! Update: Just had lunch here with an associate. I had soup, salad & iced tea. My associate had an appetizer, Salmon, and iced tea. With tip our check was just shy of $100, FOR LUNCH!! I will be looking for other options locally.
Visited this place yesterday. The weather was perfect, so we went there because they have a lovely outdoor dining arrangement. But the live music (which I normally enjoy) was obnoxiously loud. Almost immediately after being seated, we asked to be moved away from the musician. It was a little better, but still so annoying. Live music should be "background music". I asked our server to have it turned down, but to...
