We were visiting the area from my wife's family place in Mayagüez for the holidays. We normally live in Washington DC. We were exploring the area with our kids and wanted to check out Utuado. We came across this little Hamlet quite by accident. The setting was gorgeous with a lovely back patio where we could relax and thenkids could stretch out. We ordered mixed appetizers and Sangria both of which were excellent. For the mains we ordered red snapper, guava chicken, fried pork, and parm chicken with a number of sides. Everything was great. You probably don't need dessert but went ahead anyway and ordered the homemade fried cheesecake and the flan with cappuccinos. My wife is a flan aficionado and absolutely loved it. There were two employees working the front of the house and it seemed like both of them wanted nothing to do with the place. We asked for water four times and waited 30 minutes before someone brought two waters for five people then 10 minutes later they brought two more. Our table ordered two plates of the cheluta kan kan. Mine was awesome, good portion of meat and chicharone but my cousins had almost no meat at all a huge bone running down it and the rest was fat. When we were ready to leave nobody would help us close out. I don't understand why they would slack on getting you out. They already didn't want us there and then didn't want us to leave??? We won't be going back...

Took us 2+ hours to eat here... empty backyard and slow service/kitchen. This seems like a spot to get drinks at and maybe an appetizer, or two. The backyard is really lovely.... Again, make sure you're in NO hurry.

After two hours of waiting, 4 out of 6 meals came. We asked about the missing meal after a bit of time, and were given an excuse "that they're starting to prepare" their food. We would have preferred a more honest response. Steak came out barely cooked-rare, instead of medium rare.

The staff are kind, and one lady is diligent, but overall there is NO urgency in getting people their food. With this in mind, plan your meal...
