Sabores — Restaurant in Utuado

In a month of traveling and eating our way through the whole island, Sabores was the most satisfying culinary experience all around! ¡Aquí se cocina con mucho amor, calidad y alma! The food here comes from the soul and you will feel it in every bite! Do yourself a favor and order the pasteles, the best I've had in my life and I grew up on the island! Heavy focus on locally sourced products and I have never met owners and staff more excited and proud to serve you the amazing food they have to offer. The result is spectacular food, drinks and desserts! So spectacular we returned the next day for lunch before leaving Utuado, to no surprise another wonderful meal experience and service. If you are in the area visiting the river whether ziplining at Batey's or river tubing, you must come to Sabores afterwards. The restaurant is relatively new (opened up in 2019) so everything is bright and clean on the inside, especially the small bar area and bathroom. The waiters are very friendly and some speak English. It was a little bit of a wait for the food but was definitely worth the wait. Fed a whole family of 5 adults with each person ordering multiple items for less than $75. Sabores is a must stop if you're in the area. We did a cave tour with Batey Adventures and we were lucky enough to ask the guides for restaurant recommendations. The drinks were good (though my mom thought the lemonade was not sweet enough) but the food was amazing! We added fresh garlic and bacon to the mofongo which was added a bit of variety and a great flavor. I had the baked cod with local veggies (and those were one of my favorite parts of the dish).
