After our first dinner service there, and certainly not our last, we have absolutely no doubt as to what all the buzz is about around the new Apres Cafe at the Raquet Club in East Vail. A massive congratulations to Chef Michael Ianniello, and to all of the wonderful people involved in opening this fantastic nook of a spot nestled in the depths of the Narnia-like mountain fantasyland that East Vail truly is. Seeing it so lively on a Thursday during a dinner rush during it's first two months of being open, and hearing the constant chatter, and that is no exaggeration, amongst the many tables around us, as well as seeing the smiling faces and full bellies all around was a true pleasure. The service staff was absolutely fantastic as well, and offered plenty of recommendations all with sincerity and a smile.
And the meal? Well, it's beyond words, but pictures might aaalmost do it justice. A beautiful orchestration of incredible combinations of flavor in each different course made for an incredibly exciting and enjoyable meal.
I cannot enough express how much of a pleasure it is to see the people I love most in life flourishing in their passions, and having an opportunity to share and appreciate their art and skill with other loved ones, but please do yourself a favor and stop by the Apres Cafe to treat yourself whenever you have a moment. Because as Mike always says, "Only the best for the best of people," and when you're in his dining room, you're always the best of people, and you're truly in for a treat.
Thank you, Apres Cafe and keep killing it. I can't wait to see where...
Read moreHave been to many restaurants in this same location in the vail racket club as we’re East Vail residents. Blues and the Apres Cafe are easily the favorites with good food with some imagination as well.
The ownership of Apres Cafe just changed this summer and now the front of house (and likely kitchen) seems transitioned to all new staff. Menu is the same but food we had was many steps down. Had fish on fries basket. The fries (now waffle) were quite overcooked and basically hollow in center. It used to come with regular fries and certainly not overcooked. The fried cod was dark brown and also quite overdone. Some meat remained but the dish did not even seem like same raw ingredients as in the past. A Salad was fine. Unfortunately things seem more akin to bar food or on mtn dining currently. But such is life.
I will try again in the winter when the new ownership has time to put their mark on our local spot as things may just be in transition....
Read moreThis is a wonderful option in an area with few options. If there's a wait for a table when you come they've got a nice bar to get a drink and help pass the time. Everything I've had was delicious: the pizza toppings are creative and the dough was so delicious. Fresh seafood flown in frequently from Seattle Fish company makes their crab roll sandwich delicious. The beet salad has some delicious veggies and drool-worthy blue cheese. The french onion burger on a pretzel was a super interesting taste combination and so satisfyingly tasty. They also offer takeout! I come back whenever I can and they continue to deliver great food and a great experience. So nice to have in this...
