Las Palmitas — Restaurant in Vallejo

So I haven’t been to Las Palmitas in many many years. My pops asked if I wanted to go there for my bday lunch, and tbh, I said yes because it’s a tradition of mine- whenever he wants to take me out to eat on my bday, I always tell him to pick (except once, I time I was craving sushi so we went lol, anyways), I was pleasantly surprised. The salsa (for the chips n salsa), they had some pretty bomb salsa. I got my typical basic carne asada plate (it’s my go to when I want to “taste test” a place- it’s a simple dish, but can also easily be messed up. Jeez, their carne asada plate was fire! I forced myself to save half because I knew I’d be eating a lot more throughout the day (everybody wants to take the bday person to eat on their bday). My son got a bean n cheese burrito and quesadilla- he smashed through it (I did take a bite of his to see, and I agreed with him, it was pretty dang tasty. And my pops, I’m not sure exactly what he got, but his shrimp plate also looked fire. I’ll definitely be going back a lot sooner than later.

Well seasoned food, good portions, attentive service, good music playing in the background, it was a good vibe overall...

I haven’t even tasted the food yet, but I ran here to make a review just at the awful customer service I just experienced. I called in some burritos and a quesadilla for my kids. I got myself a veggie burrito, twice I made clear please no guacamole or cilantro and extra beans. She said ok. I go pick up the food, get all the way home my burrito has double of everything I asked them NOT to put on. I leave my kids, and drive all the way back. I get there, show them the uneaten burrito, I opened it up to further show. I was met with an aggressive attitude, she snatched my burrito and went to the back and made another. I didn’t get an apology, I didn’t get offered a discount, nada. Then, I asked the male waiter who was the manager, (didn’t know it was her) and as I’m talking to him, he completely stops looking at me and starts having a full on conversation with a guy sitting at the bar. The manager she then came back, I told her what just went on, she shoved my bag into my hands and said well I’m the manager, you have your food, now go. We don’t give discounts.

Music was waaaaaaay too loud. And the drinks and check took too long. But other than that, good food and service. The music is nice, but it was at a volume more appropriate for a dance club. I had dinner here with my family and had to yell to talk to eachother. Secondly, the drinks came out at the same time as our dinner. They are definitely understaffed, but we didn't even have water while we were waiting for our food. We also had to ask multiple times and wait on a side of guac till we were pretty much done eating. Lastly, we had to wait over 15min for the check. The servers walked by multiple times while we were all done eating, but didn't bring it. We had to ask for it twice and walk up to the counter to ask again. The servers were nice, the restaurant is clean, the bar looks nice, and they had a good...
