Coach’s Chicken, Shrimp & Fish — Restaurant in Van Buren Charter Township

I found the place by luck doing a search of fried fish near me. I'm so glad that this came in my feed. I read the reviews here and on FB. I went today and got a whiting dinner and 1/4 of shrimp. Since I had some running around to do I didn't get a chance to eat my food while it was hot, but I can tell you the first thing I grabbed was a french fry and believe me the fries are good even cold and that was a shock because most places the fries are yuck when cold. The portions for the fish are big and I can tell you everything I ordered was good. If you order a dinner you will be able to eat it for 2 days. This place is in Belleville off Haggerty so it's a bit of a drive for me but I will be going back. I also love that they are black owned. I just want to say, I went to this restaurant for the first time and the food that I ordered was the shrimp dinner. It was amazing! The shrimp were large and fresh and cooked to perfection like my mom’s (her shrimp are the best so I thought until coming here), the fries were so delicious (no ketchup needed) and the coleslaw was a creamy southern delight. Definitely a place I will go back to visit.

I just tasted their bbq chicken wings for the first time and these wings are absolutely amazing and a party for my taste buds🥳The chicken was fresh, well seasoned and fried to to a crispy perfection and the sweet and tangy bbq sauce that they were dipped in, delicious! I did not know chicken wings could taste this good. The sauce on the wings should be bottled and sold in a grocery store. Great job...

Owners are extremely nice and friendly. Restaurant is clean. Simply lobby area, not much room to sit and eat though, which is fine. Food was good. Shrimp size is great, was pleasantly pleased with that. Only complaint, and not really a complaint, but shrimp was not battered evenly. Some peices had to much batter and some not enough. Cocktail sauce was a bit thin and a little too sweet for my liking. Overall though it was still good. My wife had the chicken tenders. She says they were a little dry. Not over cooked though. We came right before they closed, so this could have been a reason it wasn't a great first impression. We will try again.
