This location is a great place to bring children to enjoy the pleasures of lake fishing in Michigan. There is plenty of room to walk around and play. There are several picnic tables and plenty of space around them, so, you can bring a small group or a large group to enjoy the park.
The play structure is in good shape and has a lot to offer young children.
The fishing pier is very nice and situated well with plenty of shade.
There is plenty of parking and getting into the park is not difficult, however, the entrance is not clearly marked and is on a curve in the road. You may pass it the first time but once you know where it is you are all set.
There are only two items I would offer as a concern. First of all it is a very large park and most of it has water frontage. It may be possible to swim at most times of the year but check the signage to ensure it is safe. Today it's not safe to eat the fish, for example, but okay to enter the water. Belleville lake is notorious for its currents, so be careful. As there is so much water frontage if you bring young children keep an eye on them because just beyond some of the border areas and the trees and shrubs the shore begins abruptly and the drop off is not too far out from the shore.
Be aware of visitors in the parking lot. It is not close to settled or commercial locations and being aware, especially if you are going alone,...
Read moreThe park has seen some fantastic improvements that truly enhance the overall experience. The new parking facilities make visiting much more convenient, and the pavilion provides a great space for gatherings and events. The nice dock adds to the park's appeal, offering visitors a chance to enjoy the waterfront.
The playground and picnic area are perfect for families, providing a range of activities for kids and a pleasant spot to enjoy a meal outdoors. The breathtaking view of the lake and dam is a highlight, creating a serene and picturesque backdrop for visitors to admire. The small craft Portage point is a thoughtful addition for those interested in water sports, making it easier to access the water with kayaks or canoes.
Overall, French Landing Park is a well-rounded destination that caters to various interests. The park's blend of natural beauty, recreational amenities, and stunning views make it a great place for people of all ages to unwind and enjoy...
Read moreThis park seems to be hidden. It’s right off Haggerty before you go into the Lower Huron Metropark. It’s on Belleville Lake. There is a cute playscape. You can’t see it from the road though. It looks like just the DTE water power plant. The playscape is for kids 4 & up I am going to say. Smaller children might like it too. There aren’t any swings.
Edited: 6/13/23 there is no playscape. There is a large white tent now where the...
