The Junction Restaurant and Lounge — Restaurant in Vandalia

Came for lunch on Sunday afternoon with my wife and kids . We drove up from Fenton mo to check on our boat . We have been several times for breakfast when we camp during the summer . It’s usually always pleasant and good food . Today however was one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had to date . First meeting with our waitress was rough . A young girl with a terrible attitude . We ordered ice tea and asked for sweet N low .. She responded with what’s that . With a poor attitude . Then we went to order our food, my son wanted the shrimp skewers but it came with rice pilaf he didn’t want the pilaf and asked if it could be put on a different plate so his mom could eat it . The waitress replied well the skewers are literally sitting on the rice you can take them off .. 😳.. My wife was very upset at her response and decided not to order anything. When she finally brought the sweetener she waved it right in my face and then placed it on the table . Then the older gentleman sitting in the booth behind me was trying to ask her something and she replied with “What do you want “. 😳 then finally before leaving again the elderly gentleman asked another question and she responded with ,” What are you even talking about?” . The tea was old tasted like an old ash tray, The service sucked and lunch was mediocre.. won’t be back . Rustic oak is down the way and its service and food are decent . You pay your hard earned dollars to an establishment and in return treated like your an inconvenience.. Nope thanks I’ll take my...

Just OK. The wait time for food after ordering was extremely slow. There weren't any unusual requests or special orders in our group, but a simple philly cheesesteak sandwich took 10 minutes longer to come out versus steaks, shrimp and pasta. Something obviously went wrong, but no sorry for the delay or anything like that, even as the rest of my party was over halfway through their dishes. The philly was good, but nothing great. On a basic sandwich/hoagie bun. It was unfortunately pretty flavorless. On a positive note, the green peppers on it were cooked perfectly. Had to ask our waiter multiple times for extra napkins. He never remembered them each time he came out over a 15min period. However, many others in our group said their plates were really good. I'll give it an extra star for that. There weren't many choices to eat nearby, but next time I'm back in the area, I'll spend the time to drive somewhere else rather than sitting and waiting that same amount of time for food to be cooked.
