The Deli Lama Store & Cafe — Restaurant in Venetian Village

Today was our first time trying this little deli in Lake Villa. I was excited because I love supporting local places, but disappointed sadly. Pros: The sandwiches were on point, the Brooklyn and the Italian beef were awesome and so delicious. The store has a pretty good selection of items and NA beer which is nice at lunchtime. Cons: I don't know if it was the owner or what but the man who helped us acted as if he had never seen children before. I brought my 4 kids and while they were a bit wound up because they were hungry he definitely scolded them more than once. I almost at one point just wanted to tell him to stop making our sandwiches and I was going to book it out of there because I felt so uncomfortable with the way that he was basically disgusted by my children. I wouldn't recommend...

Wonderful low key deli offering the most great deli sandwiches using Boars Head brand meats.

Consider trying their most amazing rich & creamy yogurt. Flavors are unique and to die for. So rich & creamy. I'm bringing 3-4 small containers back to the east Coast with me.

Mango & cardamom Dark chocolate & Banana Dark chocolate & orange Cucumber & dill

I'm going to try their Cucumber & dill yogurt, try it with some smoked salmon, red onions & capers in a bagel or pita chips as appetizers or breakfast.

They have at least 8 flavors. All amazing!!!

They also offer a great selection of wines and soft drinks.

Prices are reasonably fair.

Worth a stop. Highly recommend both sandwiches & unique yogurts. I appreciate & like supporting...

Oh my, we stopped in and ordered sandwiches. The guy working there was interesting ... He was definitely the topic of our conversation after we left. He had zero "customer service" skills ... While he made my sandwich I stepped away to use the restroom. I was trying to decide if it was me or if he's just the type of person that deplores people; we decided he hated his job and probably would rather be doing something else, but cannot because of all the Pandemic impacts. Despite this, the sandwiches were awesome and delish, we do plan to return (well maybe not me since I live in Washington state) but my friend lives local ...and best of all a delicious pickle tucked in on the side.
