Wayside Inn — Restaurant in Vermilion Township

I stopped just now to meet a friend for a drink. His truck was here I went to walk in the door and was met by the absolute rudest woman . Who informed me that the bar was closed I told her I was supposed to meet a friend and his truck was there in the parking lot. I gave her his name she rudely said no one by that name was here then she said it's an employee only bar and then said "goodbye". I was dumbfounded to be treated in such an unbussiness like manner. Someone like this should not be employed in a bar and I pray that she doesn't own it or run it. Never in the 30 years that I've been coming here have I been treated so rudely . I would not suggest anyone coming here. Not if they want to be treated well. Saturday visit 6pm. Buger could not be cooked to order. The only cook/bartender advised it was a frozen patty. Ok ordered it anyway and it was horribly over salted. My son had the turkey bacon club and it was a pretty good size sandwich and he said it was okay. Understand this is a very very limited menu. I thought that it was expensive for what we got for just two people at such a small little roadside bar. Also be aware this is a bar for regulars. That was made pretty clear by the banter back and forth between the bartender and the folks sitting at the bar. There was a lot of f-bombs and MF bombs being exchanged so if you don't like that kind of thing, I would advise from this, my first and last visit to the Wayside, that you might want to look for...

From the outside it looks like your normal local watering hole with a few picnic tables out on the patio. But the food is far beyond good. Joan is one of the best cooks in Vermilion hands down. Her prime rib is delicious and cooked to perfection. Everything I've ever ate there has been great, and the prices are very reasonable. The only downfall is some of the staff aren't welcoming.
