Went, from recommendations, on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, late morning for breakfast. Very clean, nice menu. Quick enough service. Disappointed, a bit, in the service as I ordered toast as dry rye with butter on the side. Original server brought the plates with the dry rye toast with no butter on the side. I reminded the server of the butter on the side and she brought a small bowl of jams and jellies and set it in the middle of the table. I looked through the bowl and there was no butter in the bowl. Another server came by checking on coffee and I asked that server if I could get butter on the side for my dry toast as I didn't see any in the bowl. Then, in a fairly loud voice she claimed I had to pay extra for the butter on the side. I said that's fine and I would like to have it. The original server brought us a small bowl that look like it had one pat of butter cut into four smaller pieces in the bowl. I use that butter to put on the dry toast and it was hard and tasted poorly. It made me wonder how long it might have been sitting there before they cut it up. I would be rating it five stars for this visit if it was not for the way that this situation was handled. If you didn't have butter on the side for my dry toast why not just tell me up front instead serving me some impromptu butter from the kitchen that tasted poorly. I will most likely give the restaurant...
Read moreSaturday morning, 5/8/2021. 'Mary', the, uh, waitress, had my table. Food came out on time, as usual with no problems. Mary poured two cups of coffee, then spent the rest of my time there pretending I didn't exist. (She also said she'd take the check up to the register whenever I was ready, quite a trick considering she never returned). I have rarely seen anyone move so quickly around a dining room while accomplishing so little than what I witnessed today. Another employee arrived around 7AM. She peered into the dining room a few times, but the thought of picking up one of the two coffee pots and wandering around said dining room apparently never crossed her mind. After a 20 minute wait for Mary to do her job, I gave up.
At the register, I asked Mary if she knew of some place in Vermilion where I could get a cup of coffee. She basically didn't understand the question.
As we say in the legal profession, "Nothing further. Your witness".
In summary, do yourself a favor and ask to be seated in Erica's section. If not, don't forget to bring your own coffee. And if Erica is not there, head for the hills!!!
Or, at the very least,...
Read moreWe were seated at a small table for 2 in a very small and cramped section when there was a large dining area that was mostly open. The tables were about a foot apart and I had to touch people and either put my butt or stomach in their faces to get out of my seat. And we put our coats to the table that was to the left of us because there was so little room for us, and when a new group came in, instead of seating them in the mostly open dining room, the waitress asked us to move our coats so the couple could sit inches away from us. We were then cramped between two parties in silence because we were so close we'd be all up in each other's conversations. We even scooted our table a bit to get a little more room and all the waitresses looked at us crazy. Also food was mid asf but it was cheap so whatever. Not...
