We stayed at the Minerals Hotel and visited Kites Restaurant for both a dinner as well as their breakfast buffet. Dinner: Not sure if it is all the time, but we were there on a Saturday night and they had live music. Honestly, it was incredibly loud to the point that it was unpleasant. The band was fine, but volume was just MUCH louder than it needed to be in a restaurant the size it was. I shouldn't need to shout over our small 2 person table to speak to someone sitting across from me. We had the calamari appetizer. The calamari was tasty, but a bit overdone/rubbery. The banana peppers being fried as well was a pleasant/fun surprise. I ordered scallops and linguini - the scallops were a tad overdone but not bad. They looked like they had a beautiful sear but it was a bit soggy instead of the crust you would expect looking at it. The linguini was described to have a butternut squash sauce - I honestly forgot that was the flavor until I looked at the menu again. It was also described to have pancetta - what was on my plate looked and tasted more like pre-cooked microwaveable bacon that you find in boxes on the shelves. My husband ordered a flat iron steak with chimchuri, described to have caramelized brussel sprouts. The chimchuri sauce was kinda weak (but not entirely bad), but the brussel sprouts were basically boiled in both looks and taste. We were celebrating our anniversary and honestly it was a bit lackluster for the price point. The meal did not want us to return to this for dinner in the future. Again, it wasn't *bad*, just didn't feel our meals were as the menu described nor at a price point that reflected that. Breakfast buffet: pretty good actually. Nice selection of eggs, omelette station, breads, etc. Delicious yogurt parfait.

Hello to all my gluten free /Celiac friends today. Me and my husband visited this very nice hotel. I have seen a lot of reviews about gluten-free in this restaurant and let me tell you all about it. For lunch I had the veggie bowl which was gluten free on the menu and I want to give a shout out to Dennis for helping me with that and not get sick and not get any reaction. For breakfast I want to give a shout out to Conner for helping me take a very simple yet delicious breakfast. There are so many gluten-free options that had ham and bacon but unfortunately I don't have any of those. So I just had two scrambled eggs with a fruit and the coffee was really good. And for dinner shout out to Olivia, making me pick the most delicious flat iron steak and I substituted the sweet potato fries. The mashed potato and it was delicious. So if you have a gluten allergy, please let them know. They are very well familiar with it and enjoy dinner.

Kite Restaurant has a wonderful vibe—it’s cozy and a great spot to grab a drink while enjoying live music during dinner. The atmosphere and view are definite highlights, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. However, the food was disappointing. I tried the Cheeseburger with lettuce wraps, which had way too much lettuce and was served cold. The burger itself could have been cooked better and seasoned more thoroughly. We also tried the Flat Iron Steak, but unfortunately, it was also cold, and the chimichurri sauce lacked flavor. The Brussels sprouts were almost raw and completely flavorless, which was a letdown. If you’re looking for a place to relax with drinks and live music, Kite is worth visiting, but I wouldn’t recommend it for the food. Hopefully, they can improve their menu to match the great atmosphere.

THIS ESTABLISHMENT SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN - AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS- You will be sorry if you don’t listen! What an abysmal experience dining at Kites. My instincts within the first half hour were to leave but given I was in the great company of my best friends, it made more sense to hope for the best and stick it out. For starters, the waitress came up to us and said their credit card machines were down and we’d have to pay cash and use the ATM in the hotel. It was a bit abrupt and alarming the way she said it as if this was our problem and not her problem to deal with. The waitress was seemingly stressed out, as were all the surrounding tables. And it took 1 hour and 7 minutes to get a round of drinks. The confusing part was we had a view of the bar from our table and not once did it look busy enough to warrant this wait. If anything I questioned if the waitress was so inept she forgot to put the order in on time. I spoke kindly to the hostess during this wait and she was apologetic and said she’d get the manager. We noticed the manager during this wait who was sleezing his way around the restaurant, chatting it up with tables and totally unaware of his angry dining room, nor rolling up his sleeves to help his staff. Once the drinks arrived, my cosmo was sub par and I couldn’t even finish it. Bartender clearly had no ability and I heard the table next to us sending back their drinks saying they were disgusting. After that, our food eventually made its way, and was palatable although not worth the extreme prices. We were also so hungry after waiting for hours that we were willing to eat almost anything at this point. Then we ordered dessert to surprise our friends whose bday it was and waited 20 minutes for the waitress to come back and say they didn’t have chocolate cake. So now we ordered another dessert, another 20 min and now at this point the waitress hasn’t come back to tell us that she doesn’t have that either. At this point we’ve been here almost 3 hours, most patrons were gone, our friend was legit sleeping at the table (it was almost 11pm!) and we finally got a manager. He came over apologetically said he was taking off all the drinks and 30 percent of the check. The kicker is when I got the check, not only did he not take off the drinks or discount the food but the chocolate cake that never showed up was on it! We finally got him to take off some drinks, discount some food, and we were told the credit card machine was working again. Once we charged the card he said it couldn’t print a receipt. Finally we left angry but at least feeling like we had gotten the proper compensation for this horrible experience and my friend checked her credit card online and he had charged us in full without the stated discounts. We tried to dispute the discount amount on the credit card that we were promised, but this vendor submitted a story of such detailed lies, that won the dispute and we had to pay in full. The most shocking part of it all was the dishonesty submitted to the credit card, they are clearly masters of handling disputes and acting in a fraudulent manner. This establishment should be shut down. AVOID...

If you are a guest of Minerals Spa Resort I highly suggest only going to Kites for perhaps their drinks. We checked in and wanted room service which is kites and only kites was told by front desk room restaurant closes 10pm figured if we called by 915 that would still be fine. So we called and whomever answered said they weren't able to so fine we decided to walk to the restaurant. Once there we were asked if we had reservations which we didn't realize we needed either, they said the wait would be 15 mins and there is a nice fire place. So we decided to sit and get drinks from the bar which was quick and bartender is very pleasant. Once seated the server was fairly prompt and took our order gave warning the kitchen was a bit backed up. Dropped off bread that was more like concrete I clutched it in my hands for it to burst into pieces. (Should've been a sign) French Onion Soup was luke warm, then our dinner came out which was pizza, fries and their rosemary roasted chicken. The fries were the only item that was edible unfortunately. My wife asked me to try the pizza crust was similar to bread very hard almost croutons with sauce and cheese, my chicken had no rosemary, the spinach was covered in garlic and extremely salty never touched the potatoes they were old and not warm by any means. When server came over to drop off check and I usually don't complain but I said the pizza was "horrible" so I wasn't going ro pay for it. The server did remove it from the check. Left them a nice tip since none of the experience was their fault, the entire meal start to finish took 1.5 hours. Absolutely not, do not waste your time there are plenty of excellent restaurants nearby within 10 mins around the resort that have amazing food. Well worth the drive for take...

This is easily the worst restaurant I've ever been to. First the atmosphere is not conducive to a high quality experience. They charge premium prices, The bread that they brought to the table was stale. I ordered the chicken and waffles. The chicken was rubbery and old. The waffles were somehow burnt and ice cold at the same time. The wait staff did not come to check up on us for 40-mins. They could have made things right if they didn't ignore us. My wife and I split her $20+ artichoke pasta dish out of desperation which was at least edible but not very good in it's own right.

The waitress was completely unsympathetic and seemed confused when we said that we didn't want to pay for our meals. She retrieved the manager who was not briefed as to why we were upset before coming up to us. He made us re-explain our experience and then said that he thought I was fine with the meal because I was talking to my wife and because I saw him earlier in the night. I have no idea who he is by the way so I don't know how me looking at him would have meant anything.

Thankfully, they did allow us to only pay for our drinks. It wasn't much of a win though since this is the only food available at the resort and we went to bed hungry. Even though we were upset we were sure to tip extra on our smaller bill. As we got up the waitress chased us down to accuse us of not paying. This was odd since she was the one who swiped our credit card for payment. Maybe she thought the bigger tip was supposed to be the full payment? Anyway it was a perfect end to our crappy evening at Kites.

The manager needs to do a much better job. It really is unacceptable this level of service. They need to brush up or at least lower their prices because the prices don't even come close to...
