Worst service I have had in many years! My wife and I have never been to Waverly Beach, but after seeing beautiful pictures online and being right on the lake, we decided to go on a Saturday afternoon. We traveled down from the Green Bay area where we reside. When we arrived we were quite impressed with the facility. Very clean, spacious and an impressive outdoors venue as well. We were going to sit at a table, but then chose to sit at the outside tiki bar. We were greeted right away and my wife received her drink promptly. I was still undecided and that's when everything changed. I'm not sure if there was a shift change, but after mass chaos, employees arguing with one another and being ignored for about 15-20 minutes I decided to go inside and order a beer. I got a beer promptly and then asked a waitress if I could leave my drink at a table outside near the front of the outside of the restaurant itself which seemed less chaotic than the outside bar. She said she would watch it for me until I went to cash out where my wife was sitting at the bar and bring her back to where my drink was at the new table. I then went back to the tiki bar and flagged down the original bartender to cash out for my wife's drink. She seemed alarmed and forgot who we were. We went over to the new table but my beer was gone and another customer sitting at a table right next to "ours" said he saw a waitress grab my beer off the table. I went inside the restaurant to ask for another beer because mine was dumped out as my wife sat outside. I got a new beer (after explaining what has happened) by the server who said they would initially watch my beer and then went back to see my wife, who said she was greeted by a snotty waitress who said the table we were sitting at was only if you order food, which we had originally intended to do, but not now, or ever again. The other customer also informed my wife that this waitress was the one who grabbed my beer off the table. It just seemed everywhere I went in the restaurant, that the employees were in dismay and arguing with each other about leaving from their existing shifts. I worked in many restaurants in my earlier years, but no matter how chaotic things seem to get, you never leave the customer hanging. All we wanted to do was come out and enjoy a drink, some food and the atmosphere. Beautiful facility and location on the lake, but come on man, get your crap together! I'll take my business to an establishment that actually knows how to care for it's customers, because this place definitely does not. It's not worth the drive to feel this...
Read moreOn Sunday our group of 4 went to Waverly Beach. We arrived at 1230. We initially sat outside. We placed our order within 10 minutes of arriving or so, but the bees were pretty bad so we decided to move inside. We went and asked the bartender at the tiki bar to let our waiter know. A new waitress and our trainer came to our table within 5 minutes of being inside. We told them the waiters name and that he mentioned he had just clocked in. They said not a problem to transfer. After a couple minutes we ordered another round of drinks with them. It had been about 15 minutes since we had ordered our food. After an additional 15 minutes the waitress came snd told us that our initial order never was put in. We laughed it off. We blamed in on the bees and reput in our order with them. We now also ordered appetizers as we had been there for about 45 minutes. Our order was 2 salads, a wrap and a shrimp po boy. After an additional 30 minutes and another round of drinks, my son asked the waitress if we were ever going to get food. She thought he was joking and gave a flippant answer. Had he been joking and if at this point we hadn’t been there for about 1 1/4 hours, that would have been fine. We waited an additional 20 minutes and then angrily cancelled our order. It had been over 1 1/2 hours (45 minutes from the second order), and not even an appetizer. The manager said the kitchen had gotten slammed. I have to assume it must be an impressive take out orders as there were 5 tables inside and about 10 tables outside. Friends we have spoken to over the summer all have had similar experiences with Waverly. My family is in the service industry, and I feel 1 1/2 hours was being more than patient. If Waverly cannot handle a Monday afternoon, how in the world would they ever be able to handle an event or wedding? The owners and management need to wake up as to what is happening to their business. As it wasn’t very crowded on a very beautiful summer day, my guess is word is getting around. Also on a side note, watch your receipt. They charge a credit card convenience fee before you present method of payment…yes believe it or not they charged us for every single drink while we were there. When we asked about it, according to the manager if you don’t pay with credit card they remove it. Based on their performance, if you are paying with cash I would remind...
Read moreThis was my first visit to Waverly Beach, since they were bought, and I was not at all impressed. First, let me say the staff was wonderful! Everyone was smiling, friendly, and attentive! The bar itself was what was disappointing. First, they took out the entire upper patio. We went specifically to enjoy one last sunny day, before winter, and we couldn't sit outside. The tiki bar area was closed, and they only had 6 or 8 small tables lined up along the building, and all were, of course, full. I don't have high hopes for getting a table outside in the summer again. We ended up sitting inside the covered screened in area. We decided to order some light food. About 6:00 a band started. Who starts a band during dinner service?!? The entire room cleared out, because many were families, and you couldn't talk over the band. The lighting is also terrible. We thought that at some point they would dim the lights, but it was like a high school cafeteria until we left around 10 pm. Definitely not a 'bar' atmosphere. The biggest surprise came when I got my food bill. I ordered boneless wings, and asked if I could get a side of fries with it. They charged me $5 for a side of fries!! And it wasn't like a big heaping pile of fries. It was a SIDE of fries. So, I paid $18 for chicken nuggets & fries, and the chicken wasn't even very good. My friend got baked cod (which looked delicious) and tots, for $17. (FYI, they don't have a Fri fish fry. Fried or baked cod is the only fish option) I did advise the bar tender, that in the future if someone asks for a side of fries, you should probably warn them that it'll be $5, so they're at least aware of it. Overall, it was not a good experience. I'm sure they'll do fine, because it's a bar on the water, which will always draw people in, and I'm sure I'll be back, to sit outside in the summer, because there are few other options. I won't go back if I have to sit inside though, and I'll definitely be more careful about my...
