floor sticky, glasses had "stale' flavor, owner was jerky...typical college type bar.
I recommend avoiding (boycotting would be a better word) this bar. It's expensive and most of the people there are jerks. The big reason for boycotting is because I am an apartment manager who works across the street and went to them because their clients park in the reserved spots of my tenants (who pay good $$$ for those spots and are quite angry). As the manager, my only recourse it to have the cars towed and impounded and I tried to talk to and work with the bar owners and workers to have them inform their clients that this was going to happen...they thought it was funny and said that I SHOULD have the cars impounded!
In other words, they think their customers are a joke and its funny when you spend your money there get hurt or drunk or in a fight (see other reviews).
They care little about their neighbors (my windows rattle most every night) and every morning I have to pick up beer cans and other stuff that was taken out of the bar (children live in my facility and the people leaving open intoxicants laying around could be 'questioned' for providing alcohol to minors...as could the bar itself).
I ate there (twice). Once was a gyro and once was a cheese burger. in both cases, I was charged extra for the included "sides" - they have a lunch special. The gyro was "ok" but there are many "Greek style" family restaurants in town that serve much better gyros (for less than half the price). The hamburger was exceedingly greasy and I spent the next day ill. I had to laugh, both the waitress and the "chef" pronounced "gyro" with a hard "G" vs the Greek silent "g".
The big reason for the poor rating is the complete disregard and disrespect for their customers. To think its funny for you to have your car towed and impounded because you decided to go to Sommers House vs the several hundred or so other bars in the Racine Kenosha area, to pay them $ 3-$5 a drink when they are paying $ 8 - $ 15 dollars a bottle, perhaps they think its funny if they get you drunk and you are injured in a car accident or arrested (I don't know...but based upon how they responded when I tried to do the nice-guy thing and protect you their customers from huge costs fines and hassles; I can see them laughing at you right now...most likely all the way to the bank).
Help me help them...boycott Somers House until they start putting customers first even better if they decide to be a part of...
Read moreI started coming to Somer’s House about a year ago now, and it’s always been a great time. It’s a great place for young people to go out with their friends and get a “club vibe” on weekends without having to travel too far into cities. Also to mention, the prices are very reasonable and accommodate the college students nearby. I’ve always felt safe with the staff that’s there, if I ever have an issue I bring it up to the security or the owner and it gets handled well. Of course, like any other place you go too, you have to stay vigilant of your belongings and your drink, it’s no different than any other bar you’ll enter. But as a young woman, I enjoy coming here a lot. I’ve met a lot of great people through this bar and I’m always more than happy to recommend my friends to come with me. It’s officially my go-to bar to hangout...
Read moreI want to make it super clear. The bartenders were great! Super nice and quick with service! I have absolutely 0, nada, not a single complaint about the staff.
Now, the reason for my 3 stars is because of the look and smell. First off, the look: it is a bigger space that is pretty empty. Aside from a pool table and a few seats, nothing made it really stand out. Secondly, the smell: My girlfriend and her brother both complained to me about the smell. It was like stale incents being burnt. I wasn't too bothered by it personally at first, but I had to step outside a few times for some air. Lastly, I didn't use the bathroom because my friend told me that the smell would probably make me puke, and the urinal was draining slow because of a clog that looked like a film or...
