Crossroads Pizza & Subs — Restaurant in Village of Vernon

Called twice on 2/10/2025 at around 7:35pm to see if they could still get in a carryout order for a calzone. No one answering the phones. Got the message and voicemail was full. Happened to be driving on Janesville less than 1min away from the location. I figured I'd swing by and see if they'd changed their hours. Hours on the door read that they are open until 8pm. The open sign in the window was turned off and lobby area lights were down. I didn't get out of the car or check the door. I saw at least one person the food prep area (that side was still lit up). Looked like the person was jumping or dancing around? I guess they closed up early tonight?? Not sure what the company policy is, but I would expect that if someone was still there, and it was before the 8pm closing time, that they should at least answer the phone, even if it's only to tell you that it's too late to take any more orders for that night. Not the end of the world, but still...

We have been ordering food from here for many years. However my complaint this time is about the fish fry. Overall the fish fry is very tasty and I’m satisfied with the quality and quantity; However this time when we ordered ,one fish fry only had two pieces of fish, which is supposed to have four.When I called to tell them about that the first two times no one would even answer the phone. Finally when someone did answer and I told him the problem he had to ask someone else what to do about it. He said are you sure The fish wasn’t hidden under the fries. After insisting to him that we only got the two pieces of fish he got some woman on the phone and she didn’t believe me that we only got two pieces of fish. She said three people check the fish before it goes out, so basically they think I’m lying. Not trying to get any free food just wanting to get what we were supposed to.So now on we will go somewhere else for our fish fries, I suggest...

Update: 10-24-25. I have been here a bunch of times and usually they make a good pizza. Well then we had this happen today10-23-35 @ 3:08 PM my order was placed. The guy on the phone clearly doesn’t like his job or take it to seriously. Very short and rude didn’t even say goodbye. I ordered a medium thin crust pepperoni and onion pizza. I get it home and well I’ll let you decide if it was burnt or not. It was burnt if you ask me. Update here. Whiten two hours of me posting this review said employee called me back and apologized for his rudeness and burnt pizza.(everyone has an off night). He offered a free large replacement pizza at no charge to me. This is what I love about small business and try to support them as much as possible. They will go beyond to make things right as they should. I will definitely change my 3 star review and update a second time once I receive my replacement pizza and am...
