Always on the look out for a good shawarma, glad I stopped in! The place is simple with some tables and an open kitchen, which was nice to see all the culinary prep in action! The joint was nice and clean, that’s always good to see. Walked up and was greeted by a very nice lady, she showed me the menu and made some recommendations. Ended up with a ribeye shawarma and hummus. Asked how I wanted the ribeye cooked, I was caught off guard by the question, at a steakhouse yes, understood. At a shawarma joint…it was nice! So I sat at one of the tables in front of the open kitchen and just watched them go, they don’t move fast, but that’s ok…..the flavor is all there. I watched them prepare my order and a lot of attention was put into everything they were doing back there. Good job!
So the rib eye shawarma….i would say this is probably the winning shawarma I’ve had here in the 757. It had plenty of sauce the right portions of lettuce, tomatoes, onions and feta. Then piled on top was the nice and juicy ribeye that was cooked at the right temp. The pita was nice and warm not tough nor dry, the sauce was seasoned nicely, the veggies were vibrant, ribeye seasoned and juicy…all nicely wrapped in foil. The best part aside from the tremendous flavor, bite after bite….nothing gushed out, no runny mess, grease….you just have to come and try for yourself. They have many options for shawarmas and platters. The hummus was put in a small plastic container drizzled with some oil and herbs, the pita chips were cut and fried to order and then tossed in herbs. The hummus was creamy and refreshing, a definite must have every visit. Definitely will be back again. Highly recommended, great...
Read moreI was looking for a newer different Mediterranean place to eat. There aren't a lot of them, but more than before to choose from which will make me believe that will not all taste the same. I mean, there's mediterranean, Greek, Lebanese, etc. Different regions around the Med. Sea which have different types of cuisines to eat.
I was looking for something different and didn't want to just go to place with pictures of smiley faces made in hummus. I'm a serious man out for some serious eats. Not that serious, but I don't need smiley faces in my hummus. It's hard to commit to a place to buy a bunch of things especially if you haven't been there before. But getting just a sample of things, was a good idea and a great indicator that I will go back to try other things without hesitation and this would be the place to do so.
I had the chicken kabob platter with chickpeas and potatoes. The chicken was on a type of thin noodle. And the sauce from the chickpeas and potatoes help to accent the flavors. Place all of that onto the pita provided and it's one bite into juicy heaven. The chicken was cooked great!
All of the food that I'd had was great. My friend had the beef and lamb gyro and he'd kept taking meat out of the pita because it was too big to pick up to eat. When he finally did pick it up, it looked even bigger and it looked amazing! And knew in my mind, I'm having that next time!
Sorry for no pictures. I've seen a lot of the pics on these reviews which helped me decide to go here and it was worth it. And actually having made decision to go makes me want to go back again!
One of the best meals I've had in...
Read moreMy wife, child, and I came here for dinner and spoke with one of the waiters as to what he suggested. He gave us a few good suggestions, but highly recommend the kobida kabob platter. I got the kobida kabob platter with brown rice, all sauces, eggplant and salad. My wife got the gyro platter with eggplant and chickpeas. These meals were absolutely amazing and delicious to say the least. The kobida kabob was so flavorful and tender, and the sauces just worked perfectly. The gyro meat tasted fresh and was very flavorful. Portions were excellent. All of the sides were very tasty too.
We were also very happy to see how awesome the staff were. They weren't just nice people, they were genuinely cool people who all seemed to enjoy doing what they do. You can genuinely feel the heart and soul of this place when dining in. Both the food and service were so good, that my wife and I came back again the next day for lunch. My wife ordered the kobida platter, and I ordered the chicken kabob a la carte with brown rice. Chicken was absolutely fantastic, tender and flavorful, and kobida was still on point. Also got hummus and Turkish coffee, and both were very good as well. Overall, next time we're in Norfolk, we'll definitely stop...
