Birdwood Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Virginia

We arrived on a Sunday around 1:00. It’s not that big inside but there is outdoor seating that is open year-round with heaters. The view is beautiful with the golf course and mountains in the background. Our waitress was very sweet and good for them most part. She could have picked up dirty plates sooner. The menu is small with a handful of appetizers, burgers/sandwiches and a couple of entrees. I got the lobster roll. I wasn’t expecting Maine level lobster roll, but this wasn’t what I expected either. It was basically like tuna salad but with tasteless lobster instead. It wasn’t offensive but for $28 it should have had me drooling. I can’t recommend it. The side salad that came with it was small but fresh with a homemade sherry vinaigrette that was tasty. 10/21/22 Update - I’m adding a star because in my last 3 or 4 visits, I’ve experienced a marked difference with the food choices and flavor. Kudos!

As a BH member and enjoying an office close by, I come here often - but unfortunately not because the food is good. The staff is fabulous, particularly Sabrina and Christie, they are gems of the resort. Recently the food had some improvement and more selection, but for the caliber of the resort and club it has a long way to go. This is the place to grab a coffee, beer, wine or do some putting and enjoy the view. You will be well cared for by the staff. Sadly, don’t expect the food to be even a shade of the Mill...

We planned a visit to this award-winning golf course while in town touring the local presidents’ homes, and decided to stop in for lunch with our kids—so glad we did! We ordered the chicken sandwich, wings platter, BLAT sandwich, and the massive Flying Pretzel… WOW! Every bite was absolutely delicious. The food far exceeded our expectations. The pretzel was huge and perfectly baked, and the fries were crispy and full of flavor. Great food, great atmosphere—we were seriously impressed! And we got to enjoy the 18 hole putting green! So fun!...
