Deli Italiano Arlington — Restaurant in Virginia

Tonight we ordered two sandwiches, fries, and desert. The sandwiches were thoroughly mediocre. In their defense the sandwiches were modified to meet my grandparents vegetarian diet. I understand with this kind of restaurant going off book doesn't always yield the best results. The fries were excellent.

The reason for the two stars is the desert. The tiramisu was covered with mold! When I brought them back, the employee who helped me didn't seem very concerned. She just asked me if I wanted another one. When I said I didn't, she just looked at me and said I refunded your money then walked away. I was very polite when I went in, I didn't make a stink, I just told her about the mold and let her take it from there. I received no apology, no concern, no nothing.

Use to like this place but it definitely has gone down hill. I ordered here for the first time in about a year, bad move. I ordered a large pepperoni pizza for delivery which was almost $20. Since when did you add a $2.50 delivery fee when your only half a mile away from my house? On top of that I have to pay the delivery driver a $2 tip for driving 3 minutes or else they’ll complain like come on. $22 in all for a $16 pizza that a 3 min drive away. Now, the pizza itself looks nice with bigger slices but don’t let that fool you. Pizza is definitely lacking in taste which wasn’t the case 1 year ago when I last had it. The sauce is very acidic almost sour like and there’s not much flavor to it besides that. Also the crust is very doughy tasting, not a bit of flavor what so ever. Update: the manager has been great at addressing any issues and my last few orders from there have been good. She even delivered my last order herself to make sure.

Previous: I keep wanting to give them another chance because I like the food, but 50% of the time they take over an hour to deliver, the food arrives cold, and they don't seem to care. This time it has been an hour so far, still no food although they said it was on its way 25 minutes ago. Now they said the driver delivered the food already, but where he delivered it I don't know. The man on the phone claims if he can find it he'll have the driver being it to me and it'll still be hot.
