New update at bottom!
My wife and I placed a take out order for our first try of this place. The General Tso's Chicken portion was a true DISAPOINTMENT given that is cost $10.95. It was good food - JUST NOT ENOUGH FOOD. It would have made a child an ok lunch portion. But just NOT ENOUGH FOOD FOR AN ADULT. I would estimate maybe 6oz of actual chicken and the rest was rice. ... And it was NOT spicy, at all, even though the menu indicated it as being spicy.... I will not order it ever again.. 2 STARS
My wife was somewhat satisfied with her sushi dish - her only complaint was that is was room temp - I don't know anything about sushi other than my wife likes it - evidently she is used to her avocado roll being on the cooler side. 3 STARS
The menu has very little descriptions of what the food actually is, so if your not familiar, you'll have to google it before you order. 2 STARS
We plan on going back soon and eating inside for the full experience. I am hoping for a portion worth the money of whatever I try.
The "Teppanyaki" on the menu (I think this is where the cook it on the grill - menu doesn't say) is priced $16.95 for Chicken and Steak and evidently comes with soup, salad, fried rice, and veggies. Given that it comes with all that - I am honestly worried about the portion of meat that will come with it for the price. If $10.95 general tso's chicken had a very small amount of meat that it did, and this Teppanyaki is only $6 more but comes with all the extras... It may not be the portion of meat that I hope for..
The parking lot at this place appears to always to be full. Yet when my wife went in to pick up our order, there were only a hand full of customers there. The parking lot offers 26 spots within sight of the front door - they were all taken - we had to park basically as far away as possible, approximately 300 feet away. Maybe all those people were at the Mexican restaurant next door? 3 STARS
After my next visit, I will update this review, hopefully remember to take pictures. If the next visit isn't a better experience, it will be our last visit.
Hoping for a better portion of protein. Better parking options. Hoping the menu inside has more description than the online menu.
UPDATE- Went back and ate inside. They were slammed busy, every table full. The nice lady did an excellent job of juggling everyone. Top notch service - could not have been happier with her. As I feared, the portion size of meat was very small. This was a dinner plate and it cost $17.95 and maybe had 6oz-8oz of meat. It was good but I cannot justify the price. I had to park again behind the dumpsters, more than 300 foot away. The food is good, its just not much of it and because of the small portions we will not be going back.
UPDATE 2- Broke my rule and went back, mainly because my wife wanted it. I WILL NOT GO BACK AGAIN. Ordered the pan fried dumplings. We got 6 dumplings, VERY doughy and VERY LITTLE meat filling and the price was like $8 or $9 bucks. Total Rip off!
China Taste will give you 8 Dumplings, THAT ARE NOT DOUGHLY AND HAVE LOTS OF MEAT FILLING FOR $7... Plus they are better dumplings..
Not worth the money. Go to China...
Read moreLet me preface by saying I'm originally from a military town with plenty of Japanese restaurants and amazing sushi and enjoy Japanese food 8-10 times a month. My family and I were on vacation and decided to give this place a try since my 9 year old wanted sushi for her birthday. The atmosphere and the staff were really nice and I was really hoping the food would match up. But if I'm honest the food tasted microwaved & old rather than fresh. The sushi was sliced way too thin and mediocre at best. The pickled ginger was more like crumbled pieces rather than sliced. Shrimp was way overcooked (probably from being cooked and then reheated via microwave). With such great service and atmosphere the food was bland and very disappointing. Even my 1 year old who normally inhales Japanese rice refused to eat the minute rice version they sold. The Steak and shrimp entree was more like a thinly sliced flank, not sirloin like most other Japanese restaurants I've visited. The dumplings that were used to make the gyoza were way too thick and some sides were burnt. The food was terrible we didn't finish anything except the edamame. The rest went in the trash. After spending nearly $100 bucks on dinner for my family, what a waste! When we returned home we ordered from our normal spot and my husband says it even smells better than the food from Edo Grill. We felt bad for the people that lived in the town because great Japanese restaurants were few and far between. If you rarely eat Japanese then you may enjoy it but as for me and my family we will not be eating...
Read moreOwners are the same ones from the failed "Chopsticks" restaurant down at Bridgewater plaza. I reviewed Chopsticks a while back. I came by myself and tried Edo...I ate alone and to be honest, the sushi isn't that great. Maybe it was a bad day for them, but I wasn't impressed. The owner "Jenny" is still up to her old ways calling customers "buddy" and names like that. She called me "buddy" at least 3 times. Very disrespectful to call an older gentleman. I also think this woman is very judgmental. I overheard her saying some horrible things about a customer whom had just left. Jenny was venting to another customer about the customer who had just left. Jenny was assuming things about the customer, and making judgments about them. Very disrespectful and unprofessional. I think Jenny had best heed "making assumptions about others makes you look bad" I didn't like that woman the first time I saw her at Chopsticks. Something is off about her. I just have a feeling... and I have heard others say the same thing about Jenny. Something's off about her. Heard she has a husband named "Shawn" but I've never met him. I won't...
