This review is a long time coming. I've been holding off, thinking maybe each incident was just a one time thing, but I've had it! Nearly EVERY visit to this place, something goes wrong, and I always want to go talk to the management about it, but I just don't think anything will change so I'll do my due diligence and just write a review for everyone to read instead. I live in the area and besides a gas station, this McD's is the only place that offers food before I hop on the highway and head to work. I'll just give a review on my last 3 visits, because that's all that should be needed to justify a 1 star review. So, i've downloaded the McDonald's App and when I visit one of their restaurants, I'll open the app to see what deals they have. Every McD's BESIDES the Ladysmith one, usually has about 10 or so offers. The terrible Ladysmith location, uses the same 2 lame ones. (Buy 1 lage sandwich, get one for $0.25, or free soft drink with a purchase... cue the confetti and cheering) So my wife and I decide we'll take advantage of the BOGO for $0.25. We pull to the cashier and give him the code, meanwhile, I'm assuming a manager brought us the bag of food and took our credit card and handed it to the cashier. The cashier swipes and hands the card back and says have a good day.... hold on... where's the receipt? The cashier says, "huh?".. I ask again, can I have my receipt. He answers with, "it didn't take anything off". I was like, what do you mean? This is 1 of only 2 deals your store is offering! Why would you swipe my card without saying that first? He smirks at me and says "sorry". I said no you're not! You're trying to be sneaky and you got caught. (Keep in mind, this had nothing to do with the $3 or so I would have saved, but everything to do with how this situation was handled) So, in this instance, they basically stole from me and tried to be sneaky about it. Before this visit, I had walked in and placed my order inside, because when there are more than 5 cars in the driver through, rest assured you'll be waiting no less than 10-15 minutes, beacuse they have no clue how to manage traffic. Anyway, while I'm standing in line behind 2 other people, one of the employees comes from behind the counter and gets in front of me and starts staring at the guy i'm behind. It seemed as though they knew each other, but the customer wasn't giving him any attention. When it's the customers turn to order, he does so, and the employee asked him for his change!?! The customer says somthing and hands him the coins and then employee proceeds to order something and starts counting out pennies and nickels on the counter to pay for it... THANKS for cutting me in line and wasting more of my time! I was inside to avoid the stand still outside because I was in a rush. Now, today they're advertising their 'classics' (Big Mac and QPounder) with bacon. I ask for the Bacon quarter pounder meal with no onions. Simple enough right? Well, of course they not only charged me for the upgrade, they even had the little tag on the box itself that said what the item was... Lo and behold... no bacon, BUT, there was onions on it. Just terrible attention to detail with any and everything. I feel so shammed by this being the only fast food place in the area. I wish there was another place to go, but I have to travel to another exit. For anyone that actually read this, and if you're traveling through and you're looking for a place to stop and eat, please DO NOT go to this location. It's just awful. Clearly the hours are Thursday,Friday, Saturday and Sunday they are open 24hrs... Monday- Wednesday 6am- 11pm.. updated on there Google 3 weeks ago... Tonight Friday my husband and I went to Ladysmith McDonald's at 10:48pm ( as well of more then 20+times before same issue, even times I have been turned away and called the restaurant from there parking lot and asked did they were open and was told yes and when confronted about just being turned away in drive thru got hung up on ) there were a few cars in front of us as well as in the second line cars lined up.. as well as many behind us still... The car in front of use places there order, we pull up at this time it was 11:03pm and are told they are closed as we have had this has happened so many times before and watched the employees run and hide in the back of the kitchen and all the lights shut off.. same to the second drive through lane, and that customer responded they had a online order placed already and we're told my employees they are closed and that they would be refunded... They close when they want and don't care what happens to the customers.. we left and went to the gas station next door and while sitting there pumping gas all of a sudden the lights came back on and a few new cars placed orders got there food and left for them to shut off all the lights again and other cars start driving off again... This is the worst McDonald's even, young kids working that have no respect and act like your killing them if you ask for a straw or a sauce. And the managers are the same way and care less...
ROUND 2: it is Sunday at 10:12 pm, we were going to try this again, looked online hours say 12am in 1 spot but click more hours it's says open 24 hrs drive thru. This time I decided to call first. Older lady ( noticed before is a manager on night shift) answered the phone I say" was just making sure that you guys were open still!" The response I get from her is will be open a little bit longer. I said well online it says midnight but also 24 hours and she tells me that she'll be closing soon. I asked her what time is soon. She says whenever I feel like it because if I can't keep at least a crew of three in the building, I can't stay open!!! Okay so sounds to me like you have a scheduling issue or just proving the fact that this McDonald's employees do what they want work when they want leave when they want and shut this place down whenever they feel like it... And the worst part about it is they're right off 95, they are the only fast food restaurant there as of now until a sheetz just opened up. Thank God and a Wawa is being built.. and on top of that you take online orders instead of cutting them off so people can't make them. And then tell them oh you'll get refunded in 24 hours. Some people can't afford to wait 24 hours to get money refunded because you guys don't want to do your job.. just think that could be somebody's kids that are going without food because you guys want to make your own rules... Read moreWORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! When I pulled up to the first window to pay. The young lady was so distracted with laughing and talking to her employees that her back was completely turned to me, mind you it took about two minutes for her to open the window, speak as if I'm interrupting her, take my payment and then go right back to doing it all over again. It took forever to get to the 2nd window. However, before I made it up there, I noticed everybody on staff including the manager was in the back. Some were joyfully playing and laughing, mind you there is an ample amount of disgusting trash piled up by the door and NO ONE seems to notice or care that customers can see it. Finally, I make it up to the second window and I got the stank eye and once again as if I'm interrupting everybody, mind you everybody is at work. So, that is my last time to ever spend a dime with McDonald's period. Hire people that actually take pride in their work, I dont care if they cleaning up poop for a living, they should take pride in their work because their work represents their character. So my suggestion is make better hiring decisions because customer service really does matter, it's a direct correlation to your dollar bills you want to bring in from your business and make a true profit. I hope someone that can make some real changes sees this and dont allow it to fall on death ears or chalk it up as another disgruntled customer.
