Ruth's Place has delicious and economical comfort food just like Granny used to make! Today, I enjoyed chicken fried steak with white gravy, very cheesy hash brown casserole, and very finely chopped and delicious cole slaw, with a yeast roll Crowded at noon, but absolutely delicious! I highly recommend Ruth's!
5/23/23 Still wonderful food country style, which is delicious! Today had chicken casserole, loaded potatoes, fried squash, and cornbread muffin! Yummy! The service was great! Some understandable price increases.
8/28/24 Good food as usual at Ruth's place! Got a to go lunch, all staff were friendly and wonderful, and I did not have to wait very long. The meatloaf was delicious, with a crispy catsup topping. Mashed potatoes were a little bland, but the tasty gravy saved that dish. The corn pudding was a little too sweet for my taste, but that's just me. Today, their delicious Mac and Cheese was not on the menu. Next visit, I'm ordering salmon cakes as they look and smell delicious, and are fried to order. It's always a great meal here!
11/4/24 Got take out on this busy election day. The dining area was packed at 12:30 with a short waiting list, but I got my take out order very quickly. Staff were very friendly, even though they were very busy! Food is as follows: Chicken Casserole: tasty and flavorful, but needed more gravy. Alot of minced chicken, but I wanted more vegetables or sauce. Salisbury Steak: A large portion, very tender, average flavor. Mac and Cheese: Tasty enough with good cheese flavor, even though you don't see much cheese! Sweet Potato Casserole: Absolutely delicious. Very sweet dish, that could also be served as a dessert with whipped topping. Pintos with onions: Excellent with the cornbread and butter. Onions were strong, which I didn't mind! Cornbread muffins: Excellent as always! As it was take out, the food was a little cold but delicious as always. I highly recommend Ruth's Place for some good ole home...
Read moreWe were traveling through town on our way home to Salisbury NC from Roanoke. After shopping at all the fantastic antique stores we were starving so since we have never been to the area before we looked on Google maps for a restaurant recommendation. Google stated that Ruth's Place was simular to a great restaurant Jake's Good Eats that's nearby to Charlotte NC so we we're eager to try it. They have a reasonable size menu which includes a variety of hamburgers, hotdogs, chicken and sandwhiches as well as a "specials" menu board. They also serve breakfast all day which I usually enjoy so I decided to have a ham and cheese omelet, my husband picked one of the specials (they had 4 different ones that day) and my mother in law ordered liver and onions. We were all disappointed when they brought our food. The omelet was lukewarm, the side order of hash browns were still almost frozen and they were a strange grayish color. My husband had the meatloaf special that comes with 2 sides. He was thrilled to learn that you can substitute a side for a desert for no additional charge. He got the banana pudding and macaroni salad. He said that the banana pudding was good but the meatloaf was cold and the macaroni salad was room temperature instead of cold. My mother in law got the liver & onions with 2 sides. She said the liver & onions was very good and the beans she got were tasty. However, her mashed potatoes were cold. She was disappointed because she said she could tell if they had been hot they would have been delicious. She said they had a "good, creamy flavor". Overall if the food had been hot it would have been a good place to stop. I don't think it would have been the level of the Charlotte restaurant Jake's Good Eats because it's one of our favorites and even hot the good couldn't compare but it would have been a nice stop instead of us leaving hungry. The service was good, the prices were good and the...
