Talk about Rinky Dink! It definitely gives old fashioned vibes from the moment you set foot in the establishment. It’s a gas station, local gift shop, and restaurant. I’ll make this simple and sweet much like the cornbread they have. This is my first time at this establishment so all commentary is pure honesty.
Customer service: 5/10 the lady who took our order during the lunch hours had a nasty attitude. She needs to be in a back of house position and not the front of house dealing with guest.
Cleanliness: 5/10 when standing in line to order there was a bit of dust collected on the wine/champagne bottles very noticeable to me. The closer I got to the register I could see that there was a handful of tables that needed to be bussed. So much so that I didn’t think there was any tables to be seated at until they were cleaned. Which ended up not being the case thankfully. There seemed to be only an older gentleman bussing the tables. The table we did dine in at was closer to the window and there was food on the floor at the base of the table. I once worked as a busser and it was always mandatory not only to clear and wipe down tables but also sweep in between guests as well. Doesn’t seem to be the case at this establishment.
Food/Beverage: 9.5/10 Now last but definitely not least! The food! The food is really amazing which is honestly the only reason I gave this place 4 stars! The food is giving thanksgiving! All I needed was some Turkey and ham with some stuffing…its giving food baby! Great portions for your money! I had the catfish seafood platter with Mac and cheese and candy yams also comes with cornbread. The fish was so fresh and hot I loved every bite. I recommend that if it’s your first time like it was mine. We were visiting Cape Charles and stopped for lunch and it was honestly so good we stopped on the way back from Cape Charles as well! I got something to-go it was a Catfish sandwich with French fries the fries were average at best. I was hoping the catfish sandwich would have come with cheese lettuce and mayo but it didn’t I need to specify that on my next visit because I definitely will be back! The cornbread is to die for if you like your cornbread sweet like I do! I honestly want a whole cake made from their cornbread it’s so good it taste like cake. I saved my piece from lunch and enjoyed it with my dinner. All in all the food is what will keep you coming back if...
Read moreWe stopped for a quick bite to eat around noon on a Sunday. What a disappointment.
As we were trying to place our order, it appeared the staff behind the counter was getting fussed at publicly by another staff member. Definitely tense and bad energy.
We ordered 2 grilled chicken sandwiches with fries. Our buddy ordered a burger combo. Our buddy got his burger about 15 mins after ordering (according to the time stamp on the receipt.) At 23 mins after ordering (and them serving 8 other people who ordered after us their food), I went to the counter and asked how much longer ours would be. I was told we ordered grilled chicken, and it was a thick piece of meat and took longer to cook. I then got a lecture from the server with an attitude, on food prep and cook times. Having worked in numerous restaurants over the years, I'm confident you don't serve meals 15 mins apart to the same table.
At 28 mins after ordering, we got our grilled chicken & fries. Both were TINY, dry and tough. You can see in the photo how small the chicken is compared to the normal bun size. Our buddy only ate 1/4 of his burger and said it was dry and tough.
Definitely not the place to go for decent or good food with unfriendly service and certainly not the place to go if you are in a hurry. What a...
Read moreShould have read some reviews before eating here. Wait to order once seated wasn’t to bad. They serve water in styrofoam cups and bring you a new cup each time? Nice for the environment folks. I ordered a red stripe beer, waitress brought just the can, no chilled glass, had to ask for one. It took over 25 minutes to get our order, and it wasn’t busy. Asked the waitress when our order was coming. She said she would check. Got my 24 dollar flounder platter, one fillet had the skin attached. Rubbery skin and fishy tasting. My fish was not hot, but the fries were, as if they were waiting for fries to cook and added them to the plate. Asked the waitress about my skin on fillet and she said, “isn’t that right”? Wife had a mahi sandwich on a round bun, the fish was a small square, looked just like the frozen mahi fillets you get from Costco. Wife’s fish was half the size of the bun. Service and food were poor. Will not return. These tourist places are used to a lot of traffic and don’t think they need to provide good service of quality food. What a shame they take your money as if you’re doing then a favor. My wife tipped the waitress, I would not have. Her attention to service was poor. I asked her to tell the cooks about the fish, I doubt she did. The food aspect wasn’t her...
