Stuart's Fresh Catch — Restaurant in Virginia

October 2025 - I noticed that they had apple cobbler listed as a dessert. Below is the Apple cobbler I paid $4 for It almost looks like Apple preserves there was a small square of pastry dough on it as if it was a symbolled right before they gave it to me. What you're looking at in the picture is the actual serving amount after I pulled off the little square of dough they had on top of it.

I don't care how much they claim they are doing everything the same as Wayne. That is not true.. I know for a FACT they are cutting the cake in smaller slices. Tonight I was shocked when I saw the size of the slice of cake. It looks 1/2 the size of what i have been buying fir 17 yrs with Wayne. This is a recent change. Last time i bought cake it was the usual large slice. Always enough to share. So EVERYTIME I get a small slice of cake for the same price I been paying for years with Wayne I am giving 1 star for reduced portion size. Americans like our larger portions. Stuart's is iconic and it's a shame it was sold to someone that would insult long-time customers. We are smart enough to notice we got a smaller piece of cake. I have been buying cake from Stuart's since 2005! It's time we give reviews that force them to bring things back up to Wayne's standards!...

Ok... last day in Virginia and was looking for a delicious whitting sandwich before heading back to jersey... it was very hard to find and I thought I found a gold mine..I notice no pics of food were up on yelp so I couldn't use my eyes to help decide. .. very disappointed in my meal. I ordered a whitting sandwich, catfish sandwich, "baked" mac and greens. My hun enjoyed his catfish. Their cakes were also good. My whitting was the worst fish sandwich I ever had... it was overdone making it too crunchy on the outside and dry as hell on the inside. Now I don't know if that's how their usual customers like it but I'll pass. I will say the flavor was decent and suggest you tell them to fry it light. Now let's move on to the "baked" mac... at least that's what I was told it was when I asked. The mac was creamy, no hint of ever seeing the inside of an oven! Lol! I'm down south... and get hit with creamy mac... if they need a baked mac recipe I would be happy to assist. Otherwise, don't say it's baked. Pros, they accept credit cards, decent price and they were...

Was in the highland park area and was craving seafood. Looked up this place because I’ve passed it several times thinking it was just a fish market and not a restaurant! Came in there were two cashiers one had a mean mug and was very unpleasant to look at did not greet me and didn’t look excited to be at work, but the other young lady working the front was nice and even gave me a suggestion since it was my first time.. got the food in a timely fashion I ordered a two fish dinner with shrimp and two sides fries and collard greens… to start the Catfish was soggy and very soft hot sauce couldn’t change the taste the fries were crispy but had no seasoning in sight I guess you have to ask for the dry seasoning the collards, hush puppies, and shrimp were decent but by the end of the night I was tossing and turning due to food poisoning. It seems like the locals there love it and go for more than seafood but me will not be coming to this...
