Tejanos Cantina — Restaurant in Virginia

Really wanted to like this place. 1 star for good salsa and chips. However, omg, my meal.... oof. Ordered the Pollo Crema. Got 2 frozen then cooked (not fresh) chicken cutlets that were so rubbery and chewy I had to make sure it was a frozen cutlet and not raw. After sawing thru a few bites of something so bad, my poor two year old son looked at me as if I had given him prison food (which honestly may have been better in taste and texture) I moved on to the "vegetable" which was a small salad with a squirt of ranch dressing. Whatever, at least it was edible. The black beans lacked any flavor, and the rice tasted like boil in bag rice.

The table had some sticky residue on it that wouldn't come up with a wipe, and we were early diners so I know it wasn't because they were having quick table turn around. We were literally the only folks there.

This is what I get for wanting to try somewhere new. Will stick with my favorite Mexican restaurant right...

Rude, undertrained staff. Bartender said they do not have a drink menu. Manager had to disclose prices off the top of her head. Extremely overpriced mind you. Nothing further to elaborate on.

Edit/Response: I was not speaking in reference to price on food. I have eaten there before, the prices were appropriate. I dined there just under two months ago and the prices were still up in the air for drinks. I understand the challenges being a fairly new establishment but it was moreso the time taken to receive a response, and I caught an attitude when I asked about multiple drink prices. Considering there was no menu there should be more patience. I'll up the rating to 3 stars for your reply as I appreciate that but the staff still portrayed a strong vibe that they didn't...

Mother’s Day—

We walk in with my mother, sister and husband with our baby. There was smoke inside. Corner table was burned to the cloth. They keep raising the music volume. For a Mexican restaurant that doesn’t even play Mexican music for a theme.

The hostess in the front was lazy when we asked her to turn down the music. When we finally left, the server came out side to tell us that he could’ve turn the music down for us. After my mother and sister drove 2 1/2 hours for Mother’s Day. From Burgess,Va. This place needs standard guide lines. No one was telling anybody happy Mother’s Day no one was smiling.
