Update 06/2024: Today I stopped by and ordered a Carnegie sada with cheese taco and a steak and egg taco with cheese for breakfast. The server was courteous and the food came out quick and hot. I stop here almost every time on my way to Laredo. The food is consistently good and they are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. If you are headed southbound on Interstate 35 this restaurant is very convenient with off and on highway access. However, if you are northbound on 35 it's not as easy to get to.
It was my first time here. I had the nopalitos con huevos with flour tortillas. I don't usually order nopalitos but I thought I'd give it a try here. To my pleasant surprise, it was outstanding!! It was good, not great. I had a margarita which was pretty tart, I was told they weren't allowed to serve until noon. I looked up the law because I thought she was wrong and according to Texas law we are allowed to buy alcoholic beverage after 10am with our meal. She made me wait 20 minutes.
This is a not a fancy place but my parents love the food. My mother said everything she's had there is good. The menudo looked good. The meals are priced well and service was good. They charged me $.50 extra for the onions, enchiladas should come...
