The customer service was terrible. The hostesses were extremely rude. We made a reservation, and arrived 20 minutes early and was told it would be a few minutes before our table was ready. No problem we were early. we waited about 15 minutes and then were taken from one side of the restaurant to another and sat a small table. I asked the hostess why she walked us all the way to the other side passing several empty tables and she replied that those other table were for people with reservation, which I replied that we had. She stumbled her response with oh they are for bigger parties. I then asked her to move us to the table next to ours because it was bigger and we wanted more room. She said ok. We were not at the table 5 minutes when first our waitress, and then a different hostess tried to get us to move by say I'm going to need you yo move to another table. Which I responded with no we are not moving. The hostess was extremely rude and huffed off. We have been long time customers of this restaurant, but if that's how you are going to treat people we will not come back. I guess they think it's ok to bend over backwards for what they say our regulars and expect the other customer to do the same or you get treated poorly. I will make sure to let everyone know what to expect at the Shanty if you are not a regular there. Poor Customer Service.

The Manger did reach out to me regarding my complaint and was very apologetic and said that he would live it if we would give them another chance and gifted me with a gift card to help make things...
Read moreTo start, the place is between grungy and dirty. After being seated, I tried to pick up the drink list off our tabletop only to realize it was stuck down by whatever is smeared on the table. The server seemed displeased when we asked for the lunch menu (still being served but near the end). When my friend opened her menu she said "look, there's cheese stuck in here!" I would have left, but I think she was reliving times when the place was a favorite of hers. We placed our order and then the server brought the mandatory buns in a basket. When asked if they're good? my response was, "the butter has zero flavor." I was excited to see that the ShantyBurger could be ordered on dark rye bread. (a favorite of so many at the old Hackney's restaurant, IYKYK) Our burgers were cooked to order and were served to us on flavorless big slabs of darkish bread. I chose not to eat it (wasn't worth the calories). Because the burgers seemed on the lean/aka dry, that reminds me that I drank the whole carafe of water but the server never checked on us to refill it. All that water leads me to this- whoever the Einstein was who decided to replace what I assume were original round toilets to elongated ones in the womans bathroom never thought that the extra length means the women have to straddle the toilet to allow us to close the stall door. Given my experience, I'm surprised place was so busy. Maybe if I'd been boozing it up, I might not have noticed all of the above. I can't recommend The Shanty and I...
Read moreAtmosphere was completely off and immediately after entering I felt unwelcome. Food and service were underwhelming. We were seated next to the only other non white people which felt very off. I tried to brush that off but then a waitress placed hot sauces on our table even though we did not ask for them and did not even have food at our table. Not very happy experiencing micro aggressions on what was supposed to be a nice night out. If it weren’t for the fact that we were there on the birthday persons request, I would have left. We asked for a cupcake for her and it was not brought until we had paid and had gotten up to leave. The seating here is very odd as well. Feels too casual and awkward. Like they ordered a bunch of table and just crammed them in. It was freezing here as well. The appetizers we ordered were the green bean casserole, quesadillas, meatball sliders, and shrimp cocktail. Sliders were not spicy at all, bean casserole was so so, quesadillas were ok and shrimp cocktail was underwhelming. It seemed like it was just plain tomato sauce. I got the lamb shank which I didn’t really like but I think that is just due to my palette. The rice that came with it was not good at all. It was drenched in some sort of funky sauce. My boyfriends dish was good but the potatoes were smothered in something very funky too. The restaurant has an odd smell as soon as you enter. Could be the wood or something they use to condition it but it just smelled like...
