My wife and I drove over to check the foliage colors around Ft Gibson Lake and Sequoyah State Park, and also to try JC’s (Jauan’s) at their new location. According to the waitress the restaurant retained the same staff along with the menu. We tried the Burrito Monterey. A flour tortilla filled with well-seasoned ground beef, topped with lettuce, tomato, sour cream and queso. The lettuce and tomato made the burrito taste much fresher than just a burrito with sauce. Packed with ground beef, filling and delicious. The refried beans were smooth creamy and not bland. Very good salsas and the chips came to the table fresh crispy and warm. The restaurant is a repurposed diner, clean, lots of room and there are big windows that allow for scenic views of the lake. I like it! It was a pleasant experience.
If you are looking for other Mexican restaurants in the area, check out my reviews in my collection "Jalapeno Highway" on Yelp. I've probably been there.
Previous review from October 6. 2023 This is old Juan's that operated on the east side of Hwy 69 just north of the intersection of highway 51 in Wagoner. The menu is the same, even the telephone number is the same. The restaurant has changed its name and now operating under the alias of JC's. The restaurant is now located on the south side Hwy 51 just before you cross Ft Gibson Lake going east to Tahlequah. Easy to get to and ample parking. See the Spike S. review for Juan's in Wagoner. I was not too impressed with the restaurant when it operated in Wagner, however it seems to be well loved by the locals. Since I'm frequently in the area I will give it...
Read moreGreat food. Very slow service. Their old location was never busy and I think they were used to not making a lot of food. They run out of food it took forever for the food to come. One table just got up and left. Waited in line to get someone to wait on us to pay. 1: food is good people will keep coming 2: hire more Kitchen staff and more waitresses. 3: have someone bus tables don't use the waitreses who could be waiting on tables. 4: have a hostess to seat people and have them check people out. Don't use your waitress staff for that it takes too long. 5: Juan your food is great expect people to keep coming but please get more help and don't have such long waits for food and people waiting to pay that does not go over well. We will be back and I truely...
Read moreAbsolutely beautiful restaurant! The best Mexican in Wagoner County, however we had better service at a McDonald's. The waitress with the tattoos is NOT built for customer service. She was terrible. If she wasn't sitting at a table she was leaning on the counter. Asking her for something was like we were wanting a Loan. If you don't like serving tables then get an office job in a cubicle. The eye roll when we asked about our check , " hmm we don't put checks on table just walk up front" make me wonder if she is over charging people because they don't see a bill they just are told a total . Will definitely be getting takeout long as...
