Checked out this spot for lunch today with my Mom. Definitely a country kitchen type place which we like with good prices. Servings were not huge which is good for me since I'm watching what I eat. Food was pretty good, hot and country cooking. I got the turkey which came with stuffing/gravy and 2 sides which I chose collard greens and butter beans. Collards was good butter beans were a little hard could have cooked longer and not much seasoning, salt/pepper fixed it tho I denied bread. My Mom got the cabbage roll which came with sauerkraut and she got mashed potatoes and gravy, butter beans and a roll. Service was great place is large wasn't very busy at 1130am. Not much parking if they are busy tho, will try it again for breakfast one morning, I took pics of the breakfast menu and there is alot of choices and again reasonably priced. Love finding places we haven't been and this was mentioned on the Wake Forest community Facebook group.👍 Oh and they open at 4am....yes 4am how busy are they then really.... Breakfast til 11am then lunch 11-2. It was $13 for us both....so again great prices not spectacular but...

Others may disagree with me on my rating, but it's because this place has an X factor that makes it great.

The food is good (for most items), but the service is wonderful and the price is unbeatable. It may sound silly, but a restaurant is more than it's food.

The wait staff here is one of the best in the area, and they make you feel at home. They're always chatty and always kind. This is the kind of place where you want to be a regular.

The atmosphere on the inside is wonderful. It's nothing fancy, not even close, but that is what makes it special. Old memorabilia on the wall, cozy booths, and a diner feel. It's not a chain. It is a wonderful mom and pop establishment. It has a sense of connectedness to the community that is absent in most any restaurant these days.

The food is not bad, and many of the breakfast items are great. It's simple fare of the meat and potatoes variety. And that is precisely why I love the place. The food is simple, and the...

The Boarder… of disaster. Not even sure where to start. Showed up here on recommendation of a friend who heard it was good. Upon entry I was hit in the face with a waft of cigarette smoke from a lady in snoopy pajamas. My family and I quickly figured out that this was a seat yourself establishment- not something I’ve personally encountered in recent memory. Anyhow, I ordered country ham and scrambled eggs. Country ham was decent, the eggs were wretched. I’m not even completely sure they weren’t powdered eggs, either way, they were lukewarm at best. I can’t complain about the service, my coffee was always topped off with a quickness. If you like the atmosphere of a truck stop, nicotine stained walls, sagging ceilings, and take out orders placed in recycled Dollar General bags, this...

Shorter hours now, so the emphasis is on breakfast, always it's strongest suit. You'll find all the basics here, fresh eggs, fluffy pancakes, delectable sausage, great coffee and a few surprises, too. Signature dishes like the "Beggle", Ribeye sandwich, Breakfast Enchilada and daily specials fulfill that end. Great food, reasonable prices and wonderful attentive service amidst a comfortable "way back when" atmosphere all combine to make The Border an enjoyable escape.

I ordered the Sunrise. The biscuit had an incredible balance of crunch around the outside and warm fluffiness in the middle. I loved it! Bacon could have been a little more “limp” lol idk how to explain it, but it was still good. I wasn’t a huge fan of the syrup only because it seemed a bit runny. The pancake however was delicious! We had bottled sodas which I liked and cups of ice.
