Marie Lane Bakery — Restaurant in Walker Township

These double chocolate chip cookies were terrible!! They were kept in a refrigerator and I was excited to find a fresh baked keto friendly dessert out in the wild.

My first bite- I was so disappointed. It tasted like straight artificial sweetener. It was so hard to even taste chocolate because they used SO much sweetener in it -that that’s all I could taste. That’s pretty overpowering when you can’t even taste chocolate in a double chocolate chip cookie. The aftertaste was terrible, they were dry and crumbly, and it spiked my blood sugar and knocked me out of ketosis. I only had two bites of one cookie which claimed they were 1.6 net carbs per cookie.

They tasted like one of my many failed attempts at making my own keto cookies at home. I generally don’t like mass-produced food, but in the case of keto, I’ll stick to choc zero premium cookies, Atkins or rip van cookies. They prove it’s possible to make a keto cookie that doesn’t taste horrible or different from a regular cookie.

I guess at $8 for a pack of four cookies, I expected just a little better. I could’ve gotten an entire box of the other cookies for the same price....

In August 2021, I faced a difficult health challenge and had resigned myself to never enjoying a dessert again. Introduce Marie Lane Bakery and the delicious and healthy options that worked with my special diet and tasted AMAZING. However, the delightful goodies are only half of the reason you find nirvana with the variety of cookies, brownies, bagels, and (my personal favorite) the chocolate peanut butter muffins! The icing on the cake is the personal attention, patience, and wealth of information provided by the owner and resident baker of awesome. We live in Georgia and benefit from an easy ordering and shipping process. These delicious treats have made birthdays, holidays, and "just because" days a dream due to the best baked treats. I have been doing some version of keto for many years and nothing I have bought, baked, or sampled has ever come close to the products that Marie Lane Bakery sells. They take pride in everything they do and it shows. The birthday cake cookies, turtle cookies, toasted coconut muffins, and cream cheese brownies are just a few of my favorites, but you will honestly not find a bad item on the menu!

All that’s said, the best part of Marie Lane Bakery is how easily accessible their products are! I have bought their goodies in multiple retail locations around the State College and Altoona area, and since they offer shipping all over the US, I have also had them shipped to me when I wasn’t living in the area.
