Had an exquisite dinner here last night. I didn't have lunch and we ordered so much food! My favorites in no particular order: *I can't recommend the dumplings enough. Perfectly bite-sized, thin wrappers so your mouth isn't stuffed with dough, and great flavor (had both pork and the vegetarian ones). *The oysters on the half shell were incredible. The texture was silky smooth which was impressive. Very fresh. *Had diced sashimi with mango and sauce (came served in porcelain soup spoons). I actually enjoyed this more than the pure sashimi. *Egg rolls: the filler has bamboo which gives it a delightful texture&crunch. *Special sashimi: I cannot remember the name of this imported Japanese fish but it was white. Sliced thin, mango and sauce on top. Lightly barbequed flavor. A special item and very worth it! *The salt water fish tank. Good variety of fish (a lookdown, french angel, puffer, etc) and all real live coral. I love the decor of the place (dark wood, dimmed lighting, modern, swanky). Both tempura shrimp and the crispy prawns, yum. The prawns had two nice sauces. Tempura also came with battered veggies; light batter, my favorite method. Sashimi bowl for 4: Fed 6 people, very fresh. Cool presentation. Had the waiter surprise us with two specialty rolls - cannot for the life of me remember what they are but I would come back time and time again for both. Both had a chili sauce on top which I enjoyed. One of the rolls was deep fried - again, excellent batter thin-ness. Had stir fried bok choi and the string beans. If you could only choose one, get the beans (but both were good). Red bean ice cream isn't super "bean-y" but is still good. I heard from regulars that the green tea ice cream is the best so I'll have to try that next time. Had the white wine sangria which was sadly the low point of the evening as it was strongly pineapple juice flavored. The alcohol was present but had to fight with the fruit juice, bah! Staff was super attentive the entire meal, even though we walked in at 8pm on a weekend. Want to come back to try hibachi here.

Shogun legends is the #1 hibachi place in New Jersey in my Opinion. Definitely deserves way more than just five stars. The The restaurant itself was extremely clean even the parking lot was very clean. The hostess was friendly and welcoming. Our server with also very friendly, welcoming, and on top of things. Our hibachi chef was out of this world he did an amazing Job with our food extremely tasty. The price of the food compared to other hibachi places in a little bit more expensive between $3 to $10 more per meal but well worth it... Not only do you get quality but you do get quantity as well my steak that I had ordered with the scallops was mouthwatering juicy tender just absolutely amazing the shrimp is cooked perfectly the rice and the noodles were absolutely amazing with the kids at them not to leave a crumb on their plates... The restaurant to court is very nice and pleasant not over the top they have an amazing saltwater fish tank on the first floor just a little bit past where you walk in.. We didn’t eat any sushi at this visit but they did have an amazing looking sushi bar with a few different chefs working hard at making fresh sushi. Overall experience was absolutely amazing and would definitely drive the hour it takes to get there to enjoy another great meal and great service.

So, here’s the deal. The place has a cool vibe, but let’s not get carried away—nothing too fancy, just a nice atmosphere. They’ve got sushi, Chinese, and hibachi, which is fine, I guess. It’s like they’re trying to give you options, like I’m supposed to be impressed. They’ve got this giant saltwater fish tank, which is… fine. It’s big, I’ll give them that, but let’s not act like it’s the main attraction here. The food? Eh. It’s good, but we’re talking a solid 7.5 out of 10. I’m not writing home about it. The presentation’s nice, yeah, they’ve got that down, but for the price, I’m expecting a little more, you know? It’s not bad, but it’s not great either. And don’t get me started on the prices—way too much for what you’re getting. You’re paying for the experience of being there, I guess, not necessarily the food. Service is fine, but again, nothing special. It’s a nice place, I’ll give them that. But I don’t know, for what you’re paying, it feels a little… overhyped. If you’re down the shore and want something decent, sure, this will do, but don’t expect the world. The menu could definitely use an update.

When girls night out was the plan for the evening, myself and 5 of my girlfriends decided let's get fancy and go to dinner at the always wonderful Shogun Legends in Wall. Dinner was going well until a cockroach ran across our table. I jumped up as it ran across my plate and one of my friends promptly covered the creature with a bowl. After I jumped up, the manager appeared out of nowhere, and asked me to "calm down" because "this is a nice place" and I was "embarrassing him." Oh, well boy am I sorry your pride was bruised after a COCKROACH ran across my dinner! He kept insisting the bug that he did not ACTUALLY see was a cricket. We caught on, and agreed, in order to not disturb the entire crowded restaurant. FYI Mr. Manager man - crickets hop, roaches run, and fast. That is basic biology for ya. They are cousins, however. Regardless of what type of bug it was, he very graciously said FOUR times throughout the next few minutes of his conversation with the group, "I will take care of your bill." A few minutes later, he appeared back at our table with another manager. They started offering up a round of Saki bombs to the group. While we though perhaps this was an added gesture, we soon realized this was in lieu of comping our bug infested food as was promised, four times. The manager then asked if I wanted my food wrapped to go, since I barely ate half of it, and I said no thank you, there was a bug in there. Even after hearing me say that, he refused to take my food off of our bill and insisted the Saki bombs should be sufficient to make up for having a cockroach dine with us. Not to mention the fact that the manager was bragging about the $300,000 fish tank. That was the cost not even including the salt water fish! Despite enjoying the food being enjoyable and the ambiance superb, I will certainly not return to this place. I know bugs are normal in a restaurant - they cannot be perfect. But courtesy and professionalism seriously lack at this place. The manager even had the audacity to say to us when we tried to insist he at least take one of the six meals off of the bill - "I have four kids to feed are you trying to get me fired?" Why don't you feed your kids my leftovers? Perhaps if I was with a somewhat older group and not a group of 25 year old women, the reaction would have been different. Too bad he doubted our intelligence and thought we could be bought off with shots - after delivering the shots he even said "pound them down like in your college days." I'm sorry, what? Luckily, we did all attend college and two of us are writers for local newspapers. Perhaps that $153.00 bill doesn't seem like too much to comp when the board of health...

I was completely disgusted by my experience last night. My three friends and I went out for my friend's birthday and had a reservation set for 7:30. We walked in and it very busy. The hostess informed us that it would be a 4 minute wait. We waited and waited until it was a 20 minute wait. I went up to the manager, Paul, and asked how much longer until we get a table. He told me no more than 10-15 minutes. I said thank you and sat back down. It turned into an additional 30 minute wait, making the grand total of a 50 minute wait, finally sitting down at 8:20. We were seated next to three couples, who were clearly drinking for quite some time already because the broke a wine glass in the waiting area. Next to us was another couple. We were hungry even before we got there and I was not too happy from the wait. We ordered our drinks and got them within 20 minutes, a little longer but, the least of my overall worries of the night. We did not get our food until the two groups sitting next to us ordered more than 5 rounds of sake bombs therefore, did not get our food until 9:20. Not only were the customers drinking, our waiter was too! He did two sake bombs with them. They were talking about a plethora of inappropriate subjects (you can use your imagination for that one.) I was starting to feel sick because of how long I was waiting. The couple seated next to me was obviously inebriated. Not only were they drunk and loud, they ordered a long, complicated, gluten-free order making the chef cook their food before everyone else, separately, which added 20 minutes. The lady on the end drank so much that she was sitting in her seat with her head going back and forth. She went to the bathroom, I assume to relieve herself and came back fresher than ever until the noodles came out. She threw up all over the floor. At that point, I was not feeling well, disappointed, uncomfortable, and disgusted. I told the waiter that I wanted boxes, my check, and my green tea ice cream in a container as soon as possible. The smell of the vomit and the cleaning liquids were making me feel sick so, I left and went into the big room (we were seated in a small room in the back.) When we went into the big room, there were only two small parties left in the big hibachi room. We waited for the our change and did not leave a tip. We ended up leaving at 10:20. I will never go back there and will also be spreading the word. Due yourself a favor, and do not waste your money ...
