We were passing by on the highway while traveling back to our southern home state, and after reading some reviews, we figured we’d give Hot Grillz diner a try. It is a short drive from the highway and we figured it would be a very easy on- off situation, and much better than driving through a fast food joint. Man, were we glad we did!
We went around 820a on a Sunday morning and it was busy but not overly crowded. We ordered to go, which is always a gamble with most restaurants, as the presentation is never as nice and the food is rarely as hot/ fresh etc. Well, this was not the case with Hot Grillz!
The pleasant and really helpful woman who took our order knew we were traveling and was so considerate by asking the chefs to make our order speedy as we were waiting for it. Now, when people know you are from out of town, and will not possibly be a repeat customer, and also, with any to go order at a restaurant, usually they will not take the time or consideration with preparing your meal. Well, not so at Hot Grillz!
The food was absolutely delicious and prepared beautifully! We ordered the crunchy French toast, breakfast burrito, and turbo jacked breakfasts, and none disappointed! Everything tasted absolutely delicious, fresh and even crunchy! They even gave us warm syrup and butter(for the French toast and pancakes), with plenty of other condiments to go along with our order.
If it was this delicious to go, we couldn’t imagine how incredible it would have been sitting there and enjoying it along with their friendly service and wonderful hospitality!! Way to go Hot Grillz!! We surely will be back when traveling through and will also be telling all our family in the area about you folks. Thanks for creating such wonderful food and paying attention to the details!! ...
Read moreAbsolutely awesome experience!! I wish I could give 10 stars. The food here is delicous. We started our meal with the Portabella planks. Probably the best appetizer that we've had. The batter was light and tasty, their mushrooms were fresh and best of all, very crispy and not a bit greasy...like some fried appetizers could be. The homemade ranch dressing was a nice touch. I ordered the cheddar & corn buttermilk bisquits with fusion gravy to share with my husband; unfortunately, he didn't get much.. lol. What a flavor explosion those were...that gravy needs to be bottled and sold, amazing flavor. I also ordered the turbo breakfast. I don't usually rave about eggs, bacon, potatoes and toast...but, Damn!!!! Everything was cooked to perfection. I like that they offered onions with the potatoes and whoever supplies their rye bread, it's quite tasty. My husband ordered the 1/2 pound patty melt. He loved the rye bread as well and it also was perfectly cooked to order and very filling. The cook(s) there, really have their act together. Karen, the owner, and her staff, made this a pleasurable dining experience...from start to finish. The hostess and waitress were very pleasant, helpful and attentive. I wish I could remember their names. I had called before we headed out there for brunch, and unknowingly had spoken to the owner, Karen. She was so sweet and informative. She took the time to answer my questions, which said to me...I really would like for you to come and visit us. Karen was equally gracious as we were leaving.
This place is great, from start to finish!!! It is obvious that the entire staff cares about what they do and pleasing their customers...the total package in dining out. Even though we live on the west side...we will be return and regular...
Read moreThis place makes me so happy. Why?
Well, there's the food. I love breakfast. I saw one review that said they have the usual breakfasts, and that's true. But they didn't mention the French Toast Crunch (one of my wife's favorites), or the Huevos de Muerte (my personal favorite). Leftovers for 2 days! (The lunches are good, too!) I have always been a creature of habit, but I will leave my comfort zone to enjoy the specials that Karen or Rob create. They are worth it!!
Also, the staff make me happy. They all know me, so I can't name a favorite, LOL. They are typically very efficient and attentive. Some reviewers have apparently been there on an "off" day. But they really seem to have a good time while they're working their tails off!
Then there's the family atmosphere. People bring their kids in. I feel like family. If I come in by myself, they will ask about my lovely wife. This is a small town diner with a much larger heart.
So many homemade and signature items are part of the menu. This is not "just another diner". You've got to try it. And then again, and again. I did. And I just...
