Cockeye Creamery — Restaurant in Warren

Let me start off by saying that I love ice cream. All kinds. However, the folks over at the Cockeye Creamery take their ice cream seriously and on a whole other level. It’s not even 5 star worthy, I chose 5 stars because 10 stars was not an option. Their ice cream is spectacular! Great flavors that often get rotated in and out with other creations that never seem to disappoint. We have yet to have anything that hasn’t been great. If you’re a traditional kinda of person - the butter pecan is the best I’ve ever had. The coconut cream pie is hands down one of the best things to hit these lips since my first kiss from my wife. The wired, Cookie Monster, lemoncello, are a few other favorites. Whatever flavor you choose you won’t be disappointed - to take it up a notch…get in a freshly made waffle cone…you can thank me later.

The staff is also always on point. Fast, friendly, and thoughtful. They are top notch. In the dozens of times we’ve been we have never received poor service. Ever. That is saying something in this day we are living in.

So upset I even have to give this review, but we loved going to Cockeyes. We felt good about supporting local small business and getting a good wholesome product. How could you go wrong at your small local "creamery". Wholesome simple ingredients, right? Well no! If you are concerned like we are about ingredients like high fructose corn syrup, synthetic dyes, artificial flavors, diglycerides.... Well, I was shocked... the whole time telling everyone about our local creamery, and encouraging them to get away from the store bought junk with all the garbage in it, only to discover our local "creamery",, is no better! I am utterly dismayed over the findings. Honestly I only found out because I was curious what they used to color the "cookie monster" "icecream" we got for our grandchildren last time they were over, figuring it would be some kind of berry.... I almost cried when I saw the ingredients, knowing I had just given it to our precious grandchildren. This has to stop... We all deserve better than this. Homemade, homegrown is...

Outstanding local ice cream shop! Cannot recommend enough! The woman at the counter was great. She offered flavor recommendations and was very accommodating to my groups special request for smaller scoops (we all wanted to try multiple flavors). We ordered multiple pints, I noticed many other customers did too, which they freshly pack and can hold in the freezer while you finish your ice cream. As far as flavors, my large group tried the Andromeda, Black Squirrel, Blueberry Scone, Buttermilk Pie, Cookie Monster, Jackson 5, Lavender Honey, Peanut Butter Pie, and Wired! Everything was great!
