Went here for the first time today, wasn't sure what to expect as a lot of family owned halal restaurants are hit-and-miss. I have to say this place was a hit.
Pizza was really good, I won't say it was the best I've ever had but it was way better than most places and it was actually very filling; and it's not like it's easy to find Tandoori pizza. The prices are really low too, $23 for two large specialty pizzas?! That's $11.50 a pizza; you're lucky if you get one large specialty pizza from Jets for $23 (I'm exaggerating, probably costs like $18).
There was a teenage girl there this morning, she seemed to be learning her way around the business but her service was exceptionally pleasant and more than made up for any confusion she had about what to do; and after my wife and I walked out of a restaurant yesterday for atrocious service it was just nice to see a smiling face behind the counter of someone willing to do their job.
I've also been reading the comments about this place, mainly the negative ones and I have to say it's shameful that people haven't adjusted their ratings. The owners have responded to all of the negative comments I've read and offered free food, apologizes, and solutions to fix the issues moving forward; the people giving low ratings are spoiled, most owners don't even manage their business' Google account let alone jump through hoops to make customers happy.
The summary of my review is that this is a classic hole-in-the-wall restaurant, one of those places that just has good food at a good price and family friendly service; on top of that it's openly halal (no need to investigate, it's all over the menu and windows unlike a lot of places that claim to be halal). I really hope this place stays with our community for a long time, I hate driving all the way to Hamtramck for pizza with anything more than cheese on it.

Read moreSo I got food from this place for the first time this year because it’s halal and it’s closer to me! First time I got food, everything was good…their food is good, but a bit pricey. I honestly didn’t mind the price since I don’t have to drive to Hamtramck for halal food whenever my son wants food. I got food from them again yesterday night.. a box of tandoori pizza, large fries, and 10 piece wings (the wings are very small) like even my 4 year old had 5 pieces.. the total added to be almost $40.. they also charge a service fee? I don’t know what that is for because we ordered out.. anyways that’s not even the case.. the food we ordered the second time.. the fries and wings were darker in color and bitter and smelled funky.. most definitely the food was fried in old oil. My family owned a restaurant before so I know when something is off, we still ate the food because didn’t want to waste it.. and my God.. my husband, my kid, and I were up all night with a stomach ache and I was sweating! I don’t think I’ll get food from here again. It’s not worth it tbh, the price and the food does not match. Leaving this review so the owners see it and take health...
Read moreI have been going to salvatores since I can remember about four years old when sal owned it and was always amazing. When sal sold the place it was taken over by a caring owner who tried to do things the same way they had always been done quality wasn't the same but was still good. Recently the halal brothers took it over without realizing this ownership change I ordered my usual Italian subs and went in 30 min later to pick them up. When I arrived my food was not ready and the place smelled of spoiled meat they gave me a hurried answer that they are busy and I'd have to wait. It was at this point I saw the guy making my sandwich touch multiple things in the kitchen and wipe his nose then he goes into the cooler and walks out with a handful of ham no packaging or container just bare hands that were not clean. Not to mention a array of other health code violations. I do not ever write reviews but as a food service worker and American I find it my duty to inform anyone that if you value food, health or safety DO NOT EAT HERE. However if you want a case of hepatitis this is the...
