Wonderful food, scrumptious desserts, delightful staff. They genuinely care about their guests and the food they serve.
I stumbled on the Chocolate Gallery Cafe by accident. I was looking for a coffee shop near me. When I saw they served amazing sounding food I was very excited to try them this morning.
The strawberry stuffed French toast was unbelievably good. Lucious fresh fruit, cream cheese, thick fresh bread and what appears to be homemade whipped cream. it was dusted with a little bit of powdered sugar but it wasn't too sugary sweet. Loved it. Should have ordered a half order.
My husband had the biscuits and gravy. Fresh-made gravy with an abundance of sausage cooked in it, served over fresh biscuits with two eggs, DH didn't need the extra side of sausage but the links were well-cooked and fresh. we both especially appreciated that the gravy was a perfect balance of gravy and sausage and not too salty.
Then we did the unthinkable and had dessert. The Buckingham tort is heaven on a plate. The base is a brownie kind of a bottom layer, chocolate layer is chocolaty and rich- not sugary. There are bits of toffee in the middle that add just the right texture. The icing is smooth and creamy and wonderful. We shared a slice, after the first bite I was sorry I was sharing.
The coffee was good & plentiful. regular hazelnut and decaf they ground it fresh, brewed it fresh and kept it coming.
Next time, the spinach omelet and pumpernickel bread.
If you haven't tried the Chocolate Gallery you should. It's lovely. Cathy and the staff are lovely. Thursday-Sunday 8 to 2 well worth the time. But table 6 may be occupied;...
Read moree service was pretty good. Our server mentioned every one of the specials... I ordered the clam chowder and could not eat it. First, the soup was broken. You could visibally see where the cream had seperated. Should have been taken off the menu or fixed before being served. Secondly, the flavor was so fishey. I took two bites and set it aside. The server never asked how we liked it or why it wasnt eaten....
on to the main course. I ordered eggs benedict with bacon instead of ham. The only good part about it was the bacon. Everything was so bland. The potatoes were just mush because they were over cooked, no seasoning on anything. The english nuffin was not toasted. Not that it would have made a difference though. They were so soggy from the poaching liquid that i couldnt eat it. It was like a bread paste. Im not sure if the cook forgot to drain the spoon when he removed the eggs from the water or what happened but it was terrible. My boyfriend ordered an omelette that was on special. His potatoes were equally as bland and flavorless. His "omelette" was more of an extremely over cooked fritatta. The eggs were so brown, Not even the cheddar cheese looked yellow. The whole thing was way over done.
They pack the tables so closely. The kitchen is not biggenough to accomodate a restaurant half the size and they just packed everyone in and explained that the food is going to take a while. Once we got our food, we were bumping elbows with the people around us just tryong to eat.
I am extremely disappointed that google reviews led us to this place and it...
Read moreOther then the faded sign outside I was pretty impressed with their attention to detail with the Christmas decorations inside their tiny restaurant. We also had a very friendly, intuitive , experienced waitress that was very good with my children. The reason I have to give this diner 2 stars is because no amount of decorations or smiling facing can make up for the cooks complete lack of competence when it comes to assembling a "dinty moore". The sandwich is advertised with a creamy coleslaw and Russian dressing. Well I got one with red sauce and a coleslaw made with a vinaigrette. For a $10.95 sandwich I would expect a little more meat as well. Maybe not as much as the Bread Basket but as least enough to justify the price tag. So my family had pancakes but that's all they had, there was no garnish or side like fresh fruit for their $9.95 price tag. Long story short if they are gonna have $$ next to their name on google they shouldn't be serving $ food (like a...
