The beef used in our dinner was the cheapest type there is. It's like the fine sawdust tissue with no taste or consistency of hamburger. The chicken in our dinner was extraordinarily stringy, tough and tasteless. I strongly suspect they're using spent hen meat it was so unpalatable. So until El Chamino decides to use edible beef and chicken I will not go back.
The table service was fine, certainly adequate or better. Nice friendly employees.
The objectionable aspect of the atmosphere were the houseflies that we're circled and lit on our food. This restaurant has no double door to the outdoors. So, the flies just pour in when a door is held open for patrons. I did observe an employee in from our table using a "salt gun" shooting device to kill flies. This was going on towards the rear of the restaurant, but clearly visible happening.
I am surprised the Health Department doesn't have an issue with the fly control. While we acknowledged the food really was horrible, the flies enjoyed it. So we paid and left, said nothing. There was no point. This is among the cheapest family food available so the place does business. Just not for us...
Read moreIf you come here, you’re not expecting much outside the food. We’ve come here twice in the past week. The first time was early afternoon on a Wednesday and second time was Friday around 6pm. Both times the service wasn’t good at all, but the food was good. Both of our servers seemed uninterested to be there and were eager to stop waiting on us, they didn’t miss any details of our orders except the second time. So like I said, you come here for the food but not the service. The whole table got margaritas, all were fine but super sugary if you got a flavored marg. The prices are not bad at all, they were strong and left everyone a little buzzed. The overall atmosphere wasn’t bad bc everyone seemed to get the same service so it’s not like they play favorites either. If service was as good as the food, then I would’ve given this place a better rate.
Will I come here again? Yes, solely for the food. If/when the service improves, I’ll update my review...
Read moreThe food here is very low quality and extrememly high priced for mexican, and on top of it they have overcharged me every time I've eaten here. Today I got a single mushroom quesadilla with cheese sauce and no rice or side - THIRTEEN DOLLARS. It was supposed to be nine, and even that is way too much. Plus it was TERRIBLE, basically just a tortilla filled with uncooked mushrooms and hardly any cheese. Bland, no flavor, not authentic. It came with some lettuce and half a tomato slice... Is that a $13 tomato slice??? What a waste of money. I could have gotten a quality large meal for that price from a decent restaurant. I honestly think that most people at this place are so buzzed from the margaritas by the time they get their food they can't tell...
